From the Editor's DeskIt's here! Winter is finally (albeit slowly and sporadically) releasing us from it's icy grasp, and the racing season is starting up. We've already had our first RallyCross event and school -- which I might add, was an absolute riot as someone who's never participated in dirt before. We've got another RallyCross event coming May 18th, but before that it's time to thaw the sticky tires for our first
Autocross event on April 27th. Be aware that we'll be doing Annual Tech again this year, so if you qualify see the article later in this newsletter for details. We'll look forward to seeing everyone over the course of this season, and have many exciting things in the works for 2024!

Car Classing Help AvailableNew to SCCA functions/events, and not sure where your car fits in? Just finished putting enough aero on your Avalon to cross the Atlantic, and not sure if it's legal for H Street? Well good news -- with some help from our fantastic volunteers, we now can assist with car classing questions. Do not be afraid to ask on the facebook groups for classing information as well, but there's now another way to get assistance if you'd prefer. Simply send an email over to
classmycar@scca-susq.com and we'll help to the best of our ability.
Car Club at Local High School Wants our Help
I had a local high school teacher reach out to me, as he runs a car club. He asked if our club would be interested in coming to the school at 2pm on a weekday and talk to the students about their cars.
I only just heard from him this week, so I don’t have any specific plans yet, but if you’d be interested in bringing your car on a weekday, can you email me so I have an idea of how many cars we’d potentially have? I am also working on getting their club to come out to some of our events this season too - so I’ll keep
everyone posted as I know more.
Annual Tech WaiversWe will be doing Autocross Annual Tech again this year. Please read, print and complete the form below and bring it to our Autocross events on 4/27 OR 5/18. Be aware that you must have participated in at least 10 events within the last three seasons with the Susquehanna Region. Experienced competitors not meeting this requirement can request a waiver from the Chief of Tech, which may be granted at the
Chief’s discretion.
Williamsport Area Motorsports Artist:
Simon WardIf any of you were at the banquet and noticed the puzzles at the raffle station, they were puzzles based on paintings done by a British artist, Simon Ward. He’s residing in Williamsport, and made friends with my Dad. Simon reached out to me because he knows I’m involved in motorsports, and I wanted to pass his information along. Here are the photos he’s done in the past. He is available to work on commission if anyone is interested. Here’s a few links for him, and his email address is: simon46ward@gmail.com

Nominate Someone for SCCA's Hall of Fame Class of 2025APR 17, 2024 — The Sports Car Club of America® has tens of thousands of members deeply passionate about motorsports, with the SCCA Hall of Fame celebrating that drive. And now, it’s your turn to nominate someone for the very special honor of joining SCCA’s Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2025. Since 2005, the Club has inducted deserving members into the SCCA Hall of
Fame for their unique additions to the sport. Some earned the honor through their time behind the wheel on the pro racing circuit, bringing positive attention to the Club; others were inducted thanks to the many tireless hours they put in behind the scenes, ensuring everyone would be able to enjoy motorsports for generations to come. A few members were even inducted for simply being themselves – an awesome enthusiast who, through the years, had become woven into the fabric of the Club.
No Foolin': These SCCA Member Benefits Will Help You Stock Up for the SeasonAPR 01, 2024 — For the lucky ones, the SCCA® season has already begun. The rest, meanwhile, are not far off from turning their first wheel of the year. Either way, it’s never too early to stock up for the season, and SCCA’s Member Benefits program will help you do just that – at a discount. What’s
really needed for a successful season? Tires, for one. Then brakes. Don’t forget clothes. And that’s not all. Tires are an easy one, with Goodyear and Maxxis both offering fantastic deals for members of the Sports Car Club of America. Goodyear is offering members a 20% discount on street and trailer tires ordered through its website, with Maxxis offering 10% off its Victra RC-1 and VR-1 tires. Brakes are equally vital to success, and so are discounts on brakes. Carbotech, EBC, G-LOC, and Porterfield all offer members of the SCCA 10% discounts, with Porterfield upping that amount to 15% for Porterfield and Hawk pads.
Time Trials Nat Tour Rocks Road America in its First-ever VisitAPR 16, 2024 — A trip to Road America is always special, but a first-time visit to Road America for the Tire Rack SCCA® Time Trials National Tour Powered by Hagerty on April 13-14, 2024, was one that won’t be forgotten. The four-mile circuit has racing history, it has bratwurst, and it has one of the single most fun layouts this side of the Atlantic. While springtime in the
Kettle Moraine can be as hit or miss as stock brakes on a Mustang, this weekend was nothing but fantastic. Sunshine for the full weekend was catered by folks from Milwaukee, Chicago, and Indy Regions on hand to staff the event, which made for a successful weekend for the nearly 100 cars taking part in the on-track festivities and the Hagerty Social Party.
Need Sponsors? This SCCA Partner Helps Drivers and Regions Find ThemAPR 15, 2024 — Life’s rough when the fender on your competition car is as empty as your bank account. You want to compete in as many of the 2,000 events the Sports Car Club of America® hosts each year, but your wallet rudely says that ain’t gonna happen. What you need is a sponsor – or
sponsors – to further your motorsports dreams, but you don’t know the first thing about finding potential sponsors, pitching the right person, and then closing the deal. It turns out, SCCA Spec Miata racer turned pro racing hot shoe Mason Filippi had this exact same problem – and his solution for what he calls “micro sponsorships” can be your solution, too. “When I was 14 and racing in SCCA, I used to try to hunt for sponsors, and I’d go to local coffee shops around Laguna Seca or I would be at Auto Club Speedway and going to a U.S. Majors Tour race and go into a taco shop to try to raise money,” Filippi says. “Then I’d get stopped when they’d say, ‘How do I pay you?’ I’m like, do you have
cash? Can you write me a check? Sometimes I’d be reimbursing my dad. It became a very unprofessional manner of collecting those micro sponsorships.”
