    Message from iGEM Headquarters

June marked the first important deadlines for iGEM teams. 272 teams signed up for the InterLab Study - that's 80% of all teams! If your team is participating in the InterLab Study, don't forget to submit your data by July 27.

There were also several successful Meetups organized by teams around the world, with many more to come in July and August.

There are exciting announcements in this edition - learn more below!

    Best wishes,
    The iGEM Headquarters Team

    Welcome New 2018 iGEM Ambassadors!

The After iGEM Ambassador Program is proud to announce the newly appointed Ambassadors for 2018! Most of the Ambassadors were able to visit iGEM Headquarters this month for their inaugural kick-off meeting.

Ambassadors will be representing iGEM in their appointed regions, identifying ways to improve the iGEM experience for teams all around the world. Organizing After iGEM events, attending team Meetups, and meeting with iGEM teams are just a few of the activities they will be involved with this year.

Read about what they've been up to in their newest post on the After iGEM platform. Learn more about our Ambassadors or contact them to arrange a meeting today!

After iGEM is an initiative for the 30,000 iGEMers who have been a part of the competition since its inception in 2004. The After iGEM Program is a unique effort to support iGEMers as they build on what they learned through the competition to lead the field of synthetic biology. Safety and Security - Are You Checking In?

Did you know that the Safety Form is open for editing throughout the season?

With the Preliminary Safety Form deadline at the end of last month, you might be tempted to forget about Safety. However, you should keep it up-to-date as your project changes until the final deadline in September, making sure to include information in your Check-In and Animal Use Forms.

Check-In Forms should be filled out any time your team is considering using organisms that are NOT on the White List of pre-approved organisms and parts. In addition to this, the *NEW* Animal Use Form has been created for teams wishing to use ANY vertebrates OR higher-order invertebrates.

All teams should be safe in iGEM. Click below to learn more about Safety and Security in iGEM, and contact the safety committee at any time if you have any doubts or questions: Safety [AT] igem [DOT] org.
