September 2020 SIAS newsletter

One more day and then it is officially the end of the SIAS membership year. We hope you have enjoyed the activities over the past year and look forward to welcoming you to a new SIAS year.

For more details on SIAS membership renewal (now also available through the SIAS website), the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and a very interesting Climate Change talk that will follow please scroll down.

We are also hosting our very first online Welcome drinks – please do bring new members along to this great session that will include a magic show and interactive Bingo, which we are very much looking forward to!

Renew your SIAS membership

Don’t forget to tick the SIAS membership box for 2020/2021 when renewing your IFoA membership.

The IFoA collects subscriptions for SIAS with current annual subscription rates reduced from last year:

SIAS Fellow / Affiliate £20
SIAS Student / Associate £10

These payments can now be made on the IFoA website by logging into your IFoA account

You can also renew your SIAS membership through the SIAS website by logging into your account.

Online AGM and Climate Change CPD event

Wednesday, 7 October starting at 5.30pm

SIAS is pleased to announce that our AGM will be hosted online this year. As per previous years, we will present our accounts, approve our auditors, and report on our activities over the year. The AGM will be followed by a talk on Climate Change.

The talk will address developing and executing a climate risk strategy that includes industry insights into climate risk in business plans, a deep dive into climate risk strategy and a possible execution timeline.

Social event: SIAS Welcomes new members and old

Every year in October SIAS holds welcome drinks for new members and old members. However this year with the “Rule of 6” it wont be feasible for us all to come together!

So the SIAS welcome event will be held online. There will be a short presentation as to what SIAS does followed by a SIAS bingo based on 25 facts about SIAS. To keep the evening short, we will finish with a short 30 minute interactive magic show.

Please can current members sign up with one new member or a potential member to help show them what SIAS does - to encourage you to join there will be prizes!

Best Exam mark competition

Exam are well under way and we wanted to wish all students Good Luck! We also wanted to remind you that the best mark for each IFoA exam passed (excluding CB3) during the September/ October 2020 sitting will be rewarded with a £50 Amazon voucher and a £50 donation to your chosen charity!

We will share more details on how to enter closer to the exam results date.
