Introducing Moderator-Elect Rev David Jackson

Rev David Jackson has been named Moderator-Elect of the Synod of Western Australia.

The announcement was made by General Secretary Rev Dr Andrew Williams during the Saturday evening business session at the 49th Annual Meeting of the Synod of WA, and received with joyful applause!

Synod 2025 - Saturday 13 September Highlights

“We are called to commit ourselves, under God, to be on the way together. May we meet in the Spirit of Christ!”

These were the concluding words of the Moderator’s charge at the opening of the 49th Synod of Western Australia with opening worship led by Moderator Rev Dr Ian Tozer.

Lay and ordained members elected from our Uniting Church WA congregations and faith communities of the Presbytery of Western Australia, schools, colleges and agencies came together for fellowship, to discern, and to discuss issues of importance in the life of the Uniting Church in Australia, Western Australia, and the wider community.

Synod 2025 - Sunday 14 September Highlights

Our Sunday morning began with worship and holy communion, led by our Moderator Rev Dr Ian Tozer.

As the meeting drew to a close on Sunday afternoon Rev Lorraine Stokes, Moderator's Chaplain, shared words of appreciation to Ian Tozer as he concludes his term as Moderator.

Lay and ordained members elected from our Uniting Church WA congregations and faith communities of the Presbytery of Western Australia, schools, colleges and agencies came together for fellowship, to discern, and to discuss issues of importance in the life of the Uniting Church in Australia, Western Australia, and the wider community.

Towards Enduring Sustainability

Film Screening - Coral's Last Stand

Social.Justice.Church, ARRCC WA and the Uniting Church Social Justice Commission invite all interested to attend this screening during the Season of Creation. 

All are welcome to attend a screening of the documentary Coral’s Last Stand – the fight to save Scott reef, on Sunday 21 September 2025, 12.00pm at Uniting Church in the City’s Tranby Hall.  Light refreshments will be served and there will be updates about current issues for climate action and steps we can take towards enduring sustainability. The film screening will commence at 12.30pm.

Trek 4 Timor SW

Trek 4 Timor South West

Raise funds while enjoying a Sunday afternoon walk in the Crooked Brook Forest in the Ferguson Valley.

The International Partnerships and Development Commission are supporting this fun and family friendly event on 5 October 2025, raising money for the Mobile Health Clinic run by our Synod partners, Fundaҫou Lafaek Diak, The Good Crocodile Foundation, in East Timor.

Take Action for the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel
An invitation to gather your community and take part in a creative action being coordinated by the Palestine and Israel Ecumenical Network. For the past two years the Palestine Israel Ecumenical Network (PIEN) have produced a video showing Christians holding signs calling for an end to the injustice in the Holy Land. This year they are once again calling all clergy and churches to take part in this simple action on Sunday 21 September, during the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel (20-26 September).

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day Service
An ecumenical service of healing, hope and remembrance for pregnancy and infant loss is taking place at Mount Pleasant Uniting Church on Sunday 12 October 2025, 3.30pm. The service will be hosted by Rev Ana Leaaetoa, Chaplain at King Edward Memorial Hospital, and Minister of the Uniting Church.

Covenant in Action – BKI Busy Bee
The Covenanting Commission invites Uniting Church WA community to participate in a Busy Bee on Saturday 18 October from 9.00am to 2.00pm at Beananging Kwuurt Institute, 174 Treasure Rd, Queens Park. Volunteers are needed to help clear rubbish off the site and place in skip bins for removal. This will assist in the development of the site as a Healing Centre for Stolen Generations survivors and their families run by Yokai and BKI.

Retired Minister's Fellowship
The next gathering of the Retired Ministers Fellowship will be on Monday, 13 October 2025, at St Peter and Emmaus Church, Joondanna. The gathering will begin at 10.30am with morning tea, which will be provided by members of the host congregation, followed by a guest speaker at 11.00am and a BYO (bring your own) lunch together at 12.30pm. The guest speaker and topic will be – Rev Raymond Clee, Carpark Solar.
