Awarding USMLE Fee Assistance As part of its effort to strengthen financial empowerment for medical students, NMF selected 402 students to each receive $680 in NBME United States Medical Licensing Examination fee assistance this spring. With $273,360 already disbursed, selection for the summer cohort is underway, with almost 2,000 applications received. Another 603 students will be selected and awarded by the end of November. The fall application will open on November 24, and a final 335 students will receive fee assistance. . . .
Recap: Conversations of Consequence, Martha’s Vineyard On Illumination Day, August 20, NMF thought leaders, alumni, funders, and friends came together for an inspiring afternoon to empower the NMF mission on Martha’s Vineyard during Black Philanthropy Month. NMF Board Member Rakia Reynolds emceed the day, while Board Chair The Hon. Jon S. Corzine welcomed the crowd at the 3rd annual Conversations of Consequence Series, Martha's Vineyard Convening. Connecting Community, Supporting Scholars Research shows that curated networking experiences are essential for academic and career success, as they promote retention by fostering a sense of belonging. NMF’s recent Scholar Connection session brought together over 50 scholars and three distinguished alumni panelists: Dr. Natalie Correa, Dr. Kimberly Dao, and Dr. Christopher Ferrer. Scholars enjoyed the opportunity to engage with experts from differing specialties and educational backgrounds, gaining vital tips on how to stand out, produce impactful work, and maintain a healthy work-life balance. . . .
