The kids (and those who are kids at heart) had fun at Camp! Thank you, Wrimos, for keeping the Camp spirit running. You truly know how to throw a great event. Across our social media, you've shared great writing advice around the metaphorical campfire. We've enjoyed reading about your journeys and the goals you've reached throughout last month. Some of you have even taken a shot at writing the next great writing meme! We applaud you, and we're glad you have all found ways to connect with one another. Writing can be tough on introverts (as some of us are) and at times, can feel a bit lonely. But Camp reminds us that writers do best when they flock together to fly toward that finish line. Congratulations to all of you who showed up to write! We also want to express our gratitude to all the folks who took advantage of your regional spaces to plan virtual and in-person write-ins, plotting and brainstorming hours, and general support sessions for Camp. Regional events aren't just a camp thing. They can be submitted all year long. Here's how to submit one yourself if you want to keep the write-ins going! And if you won...have you collected your winner goodies? Completing your goal takes you to our winner page, which lets you download a winner badge, a certificate of completion and exclusive offers. If you missed that somehow, don't worry. We'll be sending out a special email to participants and winners as a final celebration of April Camp! ICYMI...awesome content from our sponsors that went out during CampIf you didn't set a goal for April Camp, chances are you didn't receive the motivational emails we sent to active campers. But we still want you to see the tools and guidance we sent out, some of which you can access year-round: 🐱👤 Ninja Writers provided a wealth of downloadable guides and fun things to enjoy, like the Mechanics of Interior Monologue' Guide, a Writer Archetype quiz, and the Create Your Own Writer's Style Guide. ✍🏽 Freewrite published a great blog post during camp: Writing Goals: Smash Targets and Become a Writing Powerhouse. They also offer a free sprinting tool called Sprinter, for all your word sprint needs. 📢 Attention comms professionals: an open position at NaNoWriMo 📢NaNoWriMo is hiring! Finally...a mini-update about previously announced program changesThanks to all of those who stepped forward to help us test new site functionality we announced in March. We will soon release additional site features designed to offer a different experience for community members who are under 18. We are excited about these new features and are in the process of building an FAQs page that will address how this will work. We will send a special message to our community when this releases. We are also hard at work on relaunching our volunteer program (including our Municipal Liaison program) and thank the hundreds of you who have stepped forward to continue. Formally registering 800 volunteers is a massive undertaking. There have been additional strategic considerations, such as how to rebalance what the organization will take on vs. what we will ask of volunteers. We know that progress has been halting and that transitions (in general) can be anxiety-producing. Thanks for sticking with us through new processes and approaches that continue to evolve. Finally, we are thinking through how to recognize the tremendous contributions of those volunteers who have stepped down from their positions. We have historically asked a lot of our volunteers, and so many have gone above and beyond what was asked. We're taking suggestions if you have ideas for how to honor our volunteer emeriti, as a simple thank you doesn't feel sufficient. We have a few good ones, but we want to hear from you! |
