New Year Honours – an OBE for our CEO!We are both honoured and proud to announce that our CEO, Isabelle Parasram, has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Her Majesty The Queen in this year’s New Year Honours List, in recognition of her Political and Public Service. Read more here. Isabelle’s experience in political and public service has proven invaluable in progressing the social value movement, as we are able to open up our important conversations to all! We look forward to harnessing this exciting momentum, guided by her leadership, for years to come. New Membership Manager set to join us...We our so excited to be joined by our new Membership Manager, Lizzie Carline, next week. Lizzie will be working closely with our members to ensure you are getting the most out of your SVUK membership and to find out how we can best serve you, so do share your thoughts! Assurance: Level 1 Associate Practitioner status has always been our on of our most popular application rounds. As a result, we have made the decision to accept applications for this at any time - meaning you can start your social value journey whenever suits you! More info here. As of January 17th, our Report Assurance round will be open for applications. Make sure to get your submission in before the deadline on the 28th January. We're Hiring!We are recruiting for a Communications and Campaigns Assistant to join us via the government Kickstart scheme. The Scheme works to create a number of new 6-month job placements for 16-24 year olds who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. The job placements are aimed at supporting the participants to develop the skills/experience they need. See more about the role here. Other Hiring Opportunities:An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen at East Riding of Yorkshire Council for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join the social value team as a Social Value Evaluation Officer role. The role involves providing support in the promotion of the Social Value Engine (SVE) and driving income generation through the co-design and production of social value evaluations on behalf of a wide range of local community and voluntary sector partners and internal stakeholders. CDSB Consultation on Social Reporting - We need your input!An open public consultation is underway on expanding the scope of the Climate Disclosure Standard Board Framework to include material social information, and as a member of Social Value UK and Social Value International we would like you to help shape our response. More info here. Promoting Climate Justice in Consumption Production Systems:As you know, the debate over people, planet and profit lies at the heart of everything we do. Recently our CEO, Isabelle, contributed to the publication 'Promoting Climate Justice in Consumption Production Systems' on behalf of Social Value UK, and we think it is worth a read! NCVO - The Road Ahead 2022:"2021 has bought many challenges that the voluntary sector has had to contend with. But what challenges – and opportunities – will the sector have to navigate over the course of the next 12 months?" NCVO is hosting their annual analysis of the changing operating environment for anyone working in the voluntary sector. It identifies and explains forces and trends that are shaping the sector and are likely to have an impact on organisations in the future. Sign up here. How health funders can make a greater impact by supporting environmental work...The climate crisis is urgent and it affects us all. So any funder or charity that wants to maximise its impact must engage with it and needs to understand how the climate and nature crises will affect the people and communities they serve.
