Sabrina Greenlee Named the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame’s 2024 Humanitarian of the Year
Greenville, SC, February 26, 2025 — The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF) proudly announces Sabrina Greenlee as their 2024 Humanitarian of the Year. This award honors individuals who make a profound impact on the South Carolina community while embodying the core values of the SCFHOF. Greenlee’s inspiring work as a renowned activist, author, speaker, and domestic violence survivor makes her a truly deserving recipient of this prestigious award. Greenlee will receive the award at the 12th annual Enshrinement at Hotel Hartness on April 17, 2025.
Despite enduring a violent attack that left her blind, Greenlee has dedicated her life to empowering women and fostering personal growth. She credits her faith with giving her the strength to inspire others and advocate for change.
Greenlee’s influence extends beyond her personal story – she has shared her journey on platforms such as ESPN's Cover Story, USA Today, The Breakfast Club, NBC Daily, The CBS Morning Show, and The Pivot podcast, using her voice to bring awareness to domestic violence and support survivors worldwide. As a keynote speaker at events like the Root Institute and the Unsung Heroes Celebration during Super Bowl week, she continues to make an impact by amplifying the voices of those in need.
Her resilience and dedication are also captured in her memoir, "Grant Me Vision - A Journey of Family, Faith, and Forgiveness," published by HarperCollins. The book provides an intimate look into her life experiences, challenges, and lessons, aiming to inspire others to find strength and clarity in their own journeys.
A South Carolina native, Greenlee is the President and Founder of S.M.O.O.O.T.H., Inc.—Speaking Mentally, Outwardly Opening Opportunities Toward Healing, and mother of NFL star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Through her nonprofit, she and her team work to educate and empower women and children through mentorship, life-skills training, and counseling. Greenlee’s certification as a life coach marks another step in her mission to provide enhanced support to those in need. Her organization runs numerous domestic violence awareness and support programs, including Pretty Scars Into Stars, 100 Shades of Purple, S.M.O.O.O.T.H. Santa, and the S.M.O.O.O.T.H. Transition Program.
