A very warm and festive welcome to the Winter Edition of the Bargate Murray newsletter.

2021 has been another key year for Bargate Murray. At the start of the year, Dom Bulfin was promoted to Director, and he has worked hard alongside me, the other Directors and the management team to plan and prepare for an even more exciting 2022.

The most exciting of those plans, in line with the direction of travel of the firm, is our move to Mayfair in the west of London on 04 January 2022.  This will allow us to better serve the needs of our high-net-worth clients and puts us at the centre of London’s West-End amongst our colleagues in the superyacht and luxury asset sectors.  We are all very much looking forward to the new opportunities that our new home will bring. You can read more about our upcoming move here.

This Winter edition of our newsletter has a distinctly dispute resolution focus. I look at the key role a litigator can play in your yacht project, whilst also reflecting on some amusing stories from the past. We will also be hearing from Dom Bulfin as he looks to the New Year with the Next Gen, Andrew Giles gives us his top 10 (Dispute) resolutions ahead of 2022, and we hear from Graham Agass on taking opportunities that arise within your business.

Finally, a debutant to our newsletter, our Head of Administration, Lauren talks more about our move, and how things have changed since we moved to our current offices in Worship Street in the City of London.

In other good news, I have recently been appointed as an accredited IYAC (International Yacht Arbitration Council) Arbitrator.  More details can be found by clicking here.

The easing of restrictions earlier in the year meant that I was able to attend the Monaco Yacht Show in September together with a small team.  Whilst we were not able to host our annual party owing to the uncertainty around Covid-19 restrictions, it was great to meet with clients, colleagues and friends face to face. I think we can all agree that whilst Zoom has been useful, it is certainly no replacement for face-to-face interaction.  We hope that can continue into 2022, recent restrictions permitting, and that many of you will get in touch and meet with us in our new offices in Mayfair in 2022.

Finally, as we approach the end of another year, and on behalf of my team, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.  We look forward to seeing you in Mayfair in 2022.

(Dispute) Resolutions 2022

As a litigation lawyer you would think that I would revel in people's problems, and be on constant look - out for arguments and accidents. But you'd be wrong!
