This past Small Business Month, our team was actively connecting with organisations across the state. We kicked off at the Sunshine Coast Business Awards, exhibited at the Central Queensland Business Expo in Rockhampton, and engaged with providers at the QCOSS Town Halls. At these events, our Community Services Workforce Advisor highlighted our workforce planning assistance tools, designed to help small businesses thrive.

Addressing North Queensland's Workforce Challenges

The CheckUP Workforce General Manager and the North Queensland Health Industry Skills Job Advisor (ISJA) met with industry leaders in Townsville to discuss regional action on workforce shortages and growth opportunities.

One of the ‘hot’ topics popping up at the summit was the value of ‘grow our own’ workforce initiatives, developing the skills of local people to move into critical roles. This approach depends on strong partnerships between industry and education, and concerted efforts to improve the responsiveness of training and education and develop clear pathways into key sectors. CheckUP looks forward to supporting these partnerships and workforce solutions across the region.

Thanks to Dr Lisa McDonald and the team at Regional Development Australia Townsville and North West Queensland.

Connect for mental health

We're thrilled to announce that CheckUP will once again be coordinating Queensland Mental Health Week (QMHW)!

This vital initiative aims to promote individual and community mental health and wellbeing, boost awareness of mental illness, reduce stigma and discrimination, and celebrate the incredible contributions of the mental health and community sectors.

QMHW is proudly funded by the Queensland Mental Health Commission and coordinated by us, CheckUP.

Keep an eye on CheckUP’s social media for the opportunity to source grant funding to host your own event.
