A Message from the Head Girl and Head Boy

When the news that we were to be this year’s Senior Prefects arrived, we were utterly blown away. In the lead up to our return to school we were both eager to hear who had been selected, but neither of us really expected it would be ourselves! Without doubt we owe our new titles to five years of nurturing and support from a wonderful school community. Now, we have the privilege of giving back to that community that has helped us flourish for so long.  We would like to extend a heartfelt greeting to the new Form 1 pupils, whom we welcome with open arms.  They will soon discover the amazing possibilities this school has to offer by taking up some extracurricular activities. What better way to make new friends and explore hobbies? We both agree that in Form 1 we would never have imagined that we would have the last five incredible years we have both experienced, and we can’t believe this is our last year.  We hope to make the most of the time we have left with our year group and we can’t wait to see what Form 6 has to offer for us.

Form 4 Irish Excursion

Ar an dara lá déag de mhí Mean Fómhair, chuamar go dtí an bpictiúrlann Lighthouse chun an scannán “An Cailín Ciúin” a fheiceáil.  Chuamar chuig an bpictiúrlann ar an mbus.  Bhí an chuid is mó den chomhrá as Gaeilge, ach bhí fotheidil ann.  Thaitin an scannán go mór linn.  Chuir deireadh an scéal tocht orainn, agus bhí na charachtair an-suimiúil.  Is í Eibhlín an carachtar is fearr liom, mar tá an-trua agam di.  Ar an iomlán, bhí an turas go dtí an bpictiúrlann an-taitneamhach, agus ba mhaith linn dul go dtí scannán Gaelach arís.

Form 4 Craft Project

This year Form 4 Craft are undertaking a Recycled Fashion project and we need your help!  The class would love to have some dressmaker mannequins to use for their project.  If anyone would like to donate or lend a mannequin, we should be delighted to have them!

Home Economics - Forms 2 and 3

Pupils in Form 2 and 3 enjoyed baking Welsh Cheese Cakes in Home Economics this week. These enticing little tartlettes contain a filling of raspberry jam and stewed apples topped with a light sponge.  Delicious!

31st Rathfarnham Scouts

31st Rathfarnham Scouts is wonderful local scouting troop which holds meetings every Friday evening from 7.30 pm until 10.00 pm at the War Memorial Hall in Terenure.  Generations of our brightest and best scouts and leaders have hailed from The High School.  The scouts have three camps throughout the year, one in October, one in April (both three nights), and a trip abroad for two weeks in the summertime.  This summer we went to Italy and previously we went to Portugal, Spain, and traversed the canals of northern England by barge.  We always have tremendous fun and make friends for life on these adventures.  You may have seen us selling Christmas trees at the War Memorial Hall in Terenure - something we do every year.  Scouts is a great place to build social skills and to learn how to be responsibile and independent while embracing teamwork.  We highly recommend joining a scouting troop but if you would like to give the 31st Rathfarnham a try, you can contact us here for more information.
