Dr. Mooney has been appointed as the Director of the Center for Information Technology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  Over the last decade, Dr. Sean Mooney has played a pivotal role as the Director of Informatics for the Institute of Translational Health Sciences, spearheading numerous initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between research and clinical practice. He has been instrumental in forging partnerships between academia, pharmaceutical companies, and startups, leading to innovative approaches for drug discovery and personalized medicine.  Read more>>

UNIQUE FUNDING OPPORTUNITY FOR PRE-DOCTORAL RESEARCHERS

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is offering a unique funding opportunity for students interested in basic or patient-oriented research related to conditions that co-occur with Down syndrome, linked to awards held by ITHS.  Predoctoral students at the University of Washington and Montana State University who meet T32/TL1 eligibility criteria can request 2 years of support for stipend and tuition.

CRISP: CLINICAL RESEARCH INTENSIVE SUMMER PROGRAM

Applications are still open for this new course designed to provide physician clinical investigators with hands-on experience in key clinical research skills to accelerate their career development. The program runs July 8–26, 2024 at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center campus in Seattle.

TWO SUMMER FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Population Health Initiative and the Buerk Center For Entrepreneuership are leading two fellowships over the summer. The Summer Commercialization Fellowship and the Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship programs are for graduate students who are interested in diving into an innovation or technology to help explore a sustainable pathway for UW investigators. 2024 HEALTH DISPARITIES RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Applications for the 2024 Health Disparities Research Institute (HDRI) will be accepted from February 5 – March 11, 2024. HDRI will take place on August 6 – 9, 2024 and is a unique weeklong program that supports the research career development of promising early-career minority health and health disparities research scientists. Visit the HDRI webpage to learn more about the program, eligibility requirements, selection criteria, and how to apply.

CoMotion Innovation Gap Funding

March 4th Deadline - This 50K grant opportunity is open to UW faculty and postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students who are working with UW research teams, where the innovations are at the pre-company or licensing stage. Successful projects have used funds to research customer demand, research and validate markets, create prototypes, and initiate beta testing.  

 

ITHS: SUPPORTING RESEARCH EFFORTS OF JUNIOR INVESTIGATORS

The ITHS offers Catalyst Awards  to provide “just-in-time” resources especially to early  career investigators looking to complete a project or collect pilot data for a larger grant application.  

The ITHS also offers Voucher Awards as “in-kind” service vouchers in support of outstanding translational research.
