Synod Opening WorshipThe 48th Annual Meeting of the Uniting Church Synod of WA takes place over the weekend of 13 to 15 September 2024 where members of the Uniting Church in WA, as well as representatives from our schools and agencies, will come together to discuss issues of importance in the life of the church and the wider community. The Moderator’s theme for this Triennium is Being with Jesus in Ministry. All are
welcome to attend the Opening Worship service at Mount Pleasant Uniting Church, this Friday 13 September starting at 7.00pm as we prepare for this time of worship, discussion, decision making and community. The service will be led by our Moderator Rev Dr Ian Tozer. The Opening Worship can be viewed via livestream, and the order of service is also available for people watching the livestream. - 'Holistic Spirituality': a tribute to Rev Dr Gondarra OAM (UCA) - This short reflection was given by Uniting Church minister Rev Steve Orme at the State Memorial Service for Rev Dr Gondarra OAM, held in the grounds of Nungalinya College, Darwin, Thursday 29 August 2024.
- World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel 2024 - observed from 16 to 22 September. This year the theme is taken from the bible verse in the gospel of Matthew (25:40) “Whatever you did…you did for me." The World Council of Churches (WCC) have chosen a specific sub-theme for each day to focus on which covers an overview of the current realities, key data and/or individual testimonies, a Bible reference and prayer. - Innovative exercise program in the spotlight on World Physio Day (Juniper) - World Physio Day on September 8 gives Juniper an opportunity to recognise its dedicated physiotherapists and therapy assistants delivering exercise programs to customers.
- Uniting Church National History Society (UCNHS) - UCNHS have two important upcoming events.
- Annual General Meeting (AGM) - Members of the UCNHS and others interested in history are invited to participate in the UCNHS AGM on Wednesday 11 September 2024 at 4.30pm (AEST) via ZOOM.
- UCNHS Public Webinar - After the Referendum: what comes next? - Many Australians, including members of the UCA and the UCNHS were dismayed and distressed by the resounding defeat of the Voice Referendum held in October 2023. Those who remain committed to, and hopeful of, a more just and inclusive future continue to ask: After the Referendum: what comes next? Two panelists will be Rev Mark Kickett, and Rev Sharon Hollis. The Webinar, organised by the UCNHS in association with the University of Divinity, will be held via Zoom on Wednesday 11 September 2024, 7.00pm-8.30pm, AEST. Zoom link here.
