But as life changes, the level of cover you need can change too. In the Good Guide to Life Insurance, financial planner Alex Hollinshead highlights five key life events that should prompt a review of your policy. These include having children, buying a home, paying off your mortgage, going through a divorce and retiring. Each of these milestones can significantly affect your financial responsibilities and the level of protection your family may need if something were to happen to you. Reviewing your policy after major life changes – and checking it regularly - can help ensure your life cover still reflects your circumstances and continues to provide the financial safety net it was designed for. Looking for greener places for your money? Start with the Good EggsMost of us want our money to do more than simply grow. Increasingly, people are asking what their savings and investments are actually supporting – and whether that aligns with their values. With Easter approaching, keep an eye out for our Good Egg Hunt, where we’ll be spotlighting some of the organisations working to make money better. The feature builds on the idea behind the Good Egg mark - an independent seal of approval created by Good With Money for financial providers that meet high standards for people, planet and customers. The mark helps cut through greenwashing and marketing spin by highlighting organisations that genuinely put ethics into practice. To earn it, companies go through a detailed assessment looking at how they operate in the real world - from what they finance and invest in to how they treat customers, staff and communities. Organisations that have earned the mark include business bank Unity Trust, online pensions provider PensionBee, sustainable bank Triodos, Ecology Building Society, clean energy investment firm Thrive Renewables, and ethical financial advisers EQ Investors, Path Financial and Switchfoot Wealth. Featured guide:The Good Guide to Life Insurance 2026 Life insurance is one of those financial topics many of us put off thinking about. It’s not exactly uplifting - but it can be one of the most important ways to protect the people who rely on you. Our Good Guide to Life Insurance 2026, created in partnership with ethical financial planners EQ Investors, breaks down how life insurance actually works in clear, straightforward language. It covers the different types of policies, how much cover you might realistically need, and the common mistakes people make when setting up or reviewing their protection. We also look at something that’s rarely discussed with insurance, which is where insurers invest your premiums, and why ethics can matter here just as much as it does with banking or investing. If you have children, a partner, a mortgage or anyone who depends on you financially, this guide will help you understand your options and make more confident decisions.
