The Joyful Journey: Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Scholar Professional Development Series This event series offers a sample of academic professional development , covering everything from the academic hiring process to defining your teaching philosophy to careers outside academia. Events meet online via Zoom; the schedule varies. First Generation Graduate School Symposium Wednesday, March 27 Are you a first-generation student? The Graduate School wants to make sure you know what resources are available to you! The upcoming event will include multiple workshops, a networking lunch, and a recognition ceremony for graduating first-generation students. Workshop topics will include the process of applying to graduate school, how to help overcome imposter syndrome and a guide to nutritious food. Speakers will include Levon T. Esters, vice provost for graduate education and dean of the Graduate School. BEST (Building Engineering & Science Talent) Symposium Dates: July 29-August 1, 2024 Dow’s BEST Symposium is primarily intended to introduce Black, Latinx, Native American U.S. doctoral and postdoctoral scientists to the wide range of rewarding careers in industrial research, and in particular, the many opportunities with one of the world’s leading materials science companies, Dow.
