Christmas leave

If you're taking annual leave during the festive season, please remember to enter your leave in Preceda before going on holiday. If you have someone acting in your role while you're away, please make sure you've delegated your workflow before going on leave.

Payroll processes over the holiday period

For the pay period ending Sunday 25 December, staff who submit timesheets must submit as many as possible by Friday 23 December. If you work over the Christmas weekend, please submit your timesheet first thing in the morning on Monday 26 December. The public holiday for this period is Sunday 25 December.

For the period ending Sunday 8 January, the public holidays are:

  • Monday 26 December
  • Tuesday 27 December (in lieu of Sunday 25 December)
  • Sunday 1 January
  • Monday 2 January (in lieu of Sunday 1 January)

In order to be paid public holiday rates, please specify on your timesheet if you work on a public holiday. It is very important that you include this in the comments section – write the date and “worked”.

If have any questions, or need any further assistance, please contact payroll@jss.org.au.

Key documents updated

Although all policies are equal, some are more equal than others. These key documents have recently been updated:

  • 6.1.6b Consent Form for Program Participants has been updated to include ‘Consent withdrawn’ to the table on page 2. Please ensure you are using this version, which is version 12.
  • 6.1.8b Participants’ Rights and Responsibilities Poster, which was updated based on participant feedback we sought. It now includes a QR code which links to the feedback and complains page on our website (where there is an electronic form), and includes the right for participants to receive culturally sensitive services and the right for participants to be their authentic self.
  •  Meeting agenda templates have been updated with new acknowledgement of country wording. The meeting agenda templates also include a number of standard agenda items (eg child safety, cultural safety, family violence etc) which are important to discuss at all program, site, and general meetings. Please ensure that you are using the most up-to-date templates – this would include transferring agendas for existing meetings, which are rolled over from one meeting to the next, into the new template.

MARAM tools

Two MARAM tools for assessing family violence risk have been adapted for Jesuit Social Services:

  • 6.1.30i MARAM Family Violence Brief Assessment Tool
  • 6.1.30j MARAM Family Violence Intermediate Risk Assessment Tool

These assessment tools complement the screening tool and safety planning tool, which is already on Gemba.

Media, news and events

Dates to add to your diary and Jesuit Social Services in the news.

Media

Our Centre for Just Places has been in the media lately, with Executive Director Susie Moloney writing with Research and Partnerships Manager Haydie Gooder on the importance of place-based policy approaches to emergency service delivery for Pro Bono Australia, and quoted in Pro Bono's piece on our just-launched Collaborative Action Plan for climate resilience in Melbourne's west.

Events

Our internal staff knowledge-sharing events, Lunchtime Learning, roll on: last week, we learnt about how our 'doing' and 'influencing' outcomes were achieved this year, and the role we all played in contributing to Jesuit Social Services' work. Find the recording of that session here with password f3Q+Lu?D, and learn more about our impact in our just-published Annual Report on our new website.
