In September's edition, we launch a funding campaign to support and shape a Live Event Industry-wide 2030 Climate Transition Plan: The Show Must Go On #3. Plus, Sustainable Event Summit 2024 programme announcements and three guest blogs on low carbon event power, zero-emission transport and waste management. We spotlight sustainable supplier Evolution Domes, encourage events to apply to the UK Festival Awards 'Transport Impact Innovator Award,' and share event sustainability news from the summer.

Call to action to fund and shape 2030 Climate Transition Plan: The Show Must Go On #3
|

|
Vision: 2025 has assembled a cross-industry working group, chaired by LIVE CEO Jon Collins, to produce the third edition of ‘The Show Must Go On’. To be published in March 2025, it will focus on creating a climate transition plan for the festival and live outdoor events industry, and making the case to the Government for support to unlock potential for a more sustainable festival and outdoor events future.
Specialists in their fields are collaborating with Vision: 2025 to review data and information, establish benchmarks, consider trends and opportunities, engage with industry, and shape a vision for 2030.
The funding target of £50,000 from industry sources will match funds raised from Arts Council England, EarthPercent, Dixon Foundation and Festival Republic. There are options for every scale of event and industry organisations to contribute. Support this work: https://bit.ly/SMGO-3

#SES24 PANEL ANNOUNCEMENT: In the headlights - collecting travel emissions data

Vision: 2025’s Sustainable Events Summit SES24 will take place on Wed 23rd October 2024 at Showman’s Show, supported by title sponsor Festival Republic.
The panel, "In the Headlights: Collecting Travel Emissions Data," will discuss challenges and new developments in collecting event travel data for footprinting with guests sharing insights from practical experience and research this season.

Five days left to enter the ecolibrium x UKFA Transport Impact Innovator Award

Entries for the Transport Impact Innovator Award, which recognises events taking action toward sustainable travel, close on Sunday 22nd September.
Won by Boomtown in 2023 for their coach initiative and detailed footprinting, the award is decided by a panel of judges and presented at the awards ceremony in Bristol on 3rd December. Entries are open to all festivals and require a 300 word description of what has been achieved in 2024 through a new or successful initiative to tackle travel impacts. Enter HERE.

In this article, our friends at Green Deal Circular Festivals explore the advantages and challenges of switching to zero-emission construction equipment for outdoor events and festivals.
Construction equipment such as; rough terrain forklifts, gators, utility vehicles, buggies and tele-handlers play a crucial role in festival setup and take down. However, the prevalent use of fossil fuels to power these vehicles poses a significant obstacle to achieving climate neutrality. Resource Spotlight: Act 1.5 x Massive Attack - Bristol 2024

Massive Attack staged Act 1.5, a large-scale climate action accelerator event on 25th August 2024 at Clifton Downs, Bristol. This handout resource was distributed at the event.
The event marked the culmination of 25 years of climate activism on the part of the band, and the first physical fruition of their collaboration with climate scientists and analysts from the renowned Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, including Massive Attack’s commissioning of the Paris 1.5 compatible roadmap for decarbonisation of the Live Music Sector.
