In Case You Missed It: 2024 FEED Conference

Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Faculty Education, Enrichment, and Development (FEED) Conference last Friday, April 12. We are pleased to share that we had a record-breaking attendance with over 100 attendees!

We would like to extend our gratitude to the presenters, who discussed the groundbreaking technology of AI.

We hope to see you at next year's FEED taking place in spring of 2025. Stay tuned for more information!

Some of the glowing comments we received from attendees at this year's conference:

"Knowledge and skills gained from this education activity will change how I provide patient care such as using AI tools to generate letters for patients and providing information to patients at grade level. I will also use AI tools such as BioRender in my research and I will use AI tools to brainstorm for teaching."

"I am more likely to explore ChatGPT when developing  questions for tests or lectures. I also will change my Zoom settings to allow AI transcription. I also plan to reach out to some of the VA speakers in this conference about utilizing AI to pull patients for research."

"I will use Doximity and or ChatGPT for patient interpretation of results. I also will use it for teaching. I look forward to trying Microsoft copilot, as well as look the day that I can use ambient listening for my notes. I plan to use Zoom AI, Abridge, Google scholar , Chat GPT, and Doximity AI in my clinical practice."

Update on compliance with federal TikTok regulation

In response to new federal regulations, Emory University will begin blocking TikTok and other applications developed by ByteDance, an internet technology company based in China, on all Emory business networks effective Monday, April 22, 2024. The block is part of broader university-wide efforts led by the Emory Office of Research Administration to comply with a recent federal rule that affects individuals conducting research or other projects under certain government contracts.

The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR 52.204-27) clause prohibits federal contractors and subcontractors (awardees of federal funding) from having or using the social networking application TikTok or any “successor application” developed by ByteDance on any computer, mobile phone, or electronic device used or provided by the contractor in the performance of a covered government contract.

For more information, including a list of frequently asked questions and details on how to request an exemption, please visit the TikTok Guidance for Emory University Compliance webpage.
