Penn State annual Veterans Day ceremony set for
Nov. 11 at Old Main, livestream

 

A ceremony to honor the service and sacrifices of veterans of the U.S. armed forces will take place at 11:11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, on the front steps of Old Main at the University Park campus. The ceremony also will be streamed online at watch.psu.edu/MAW.

The Penn State Student Veteran Organization organizes the annual Veterans Day ceremony, which is free and open to the public. The ceremony will recognize not only veterans at Penn State, but also those throughout Pennsylvania and the nation.

Penn State-led team awarded $17M to study climate risk and adaptation strategies

A multi-institutional team led by Penn State has been awarded a $17 million, five-year cooperative research agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science to understand how interconnected systems are exposed to natural hazards that create vulnerabilities for society and how societies respond and adapt to these risks. Diversity in STEM

From fall 2021 through spring 2022, the Penn State Eberly College of Science will pilot a new program that aims to provide underrepresented students with opportunities to make the most of their degree experience and pursue STEM careers through meaningful interactions with corporate partners. Entrepreneurship and Innovation: The minor with a major impact

Entrepreneurs and innovators exist in all industries and in all types of companies. The ENTI minor teaches the foundational skills students need, such as innovative thinking, leadership skills, and management and planning tools. Read more about the minor.

Penn State Alumni Association launches new podcast: 'The People of Penn State'

To share the stories of Penn Staters with more people, the Alumni Association is launching the new "People of Penn State" podcast. With over 740,000 alumni worldwide, there’s no shortage of unique Penn State stories to share. Hear from Eberly alumna, Haley McClain Hill, in the November 2nd episode.

Alum named 2022 recipient of the ACS Award

Jennifer Lewis (Ph. D. 1998) was recently named the 2022 recipient of the ACS (American Chemical Society) Award for Achievement in Research for the Teaching and Learning of Chemistry.  Lewis is currently a chemistry professor at the University of South Florida, where she has helped establish a strong presence of educational research within their faculty. The award recognizes her for “the principled development and application of rigorous assessment methodologies to support curriculum development and student learning in college chemistry.”
