Governor Announces $4 Million in Downtown and Village Center Tax Incentives - Rutland City Recipient
Governor Phil Scott and the Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD) announced over $4 million in funding for 13 rehabilitation and revitalization projects in 12 of Vermont’s designated downtown and village centers. These awards will generate over $160 million in building improvements and public infrastructure around the state. Increased investment and program enhancements have been a critical lifeline for economic vitality, as well as for communities and businesses recovering from devastating floods. - Mostly vacant since the pandemic, the new owners of this commercial block will convert six office spaces into seven one-bedroom apartments on the building's upper floor. State tax credits will support the code upgrades required for this expansion of use, along with facade improvements to the building. $1.9 Million in Vermont Early Childhood Fund Grants Announced - Rutland County Head Start Recipient
Building Bright Futures (BBF) has announced a new round of grant recipients for the Vermont Early Childhood Fund (VECF), totaling $1.9 million for projects focused on Vermont children and families. Thanks to these grants, awardees in every region of Vermont will be able to pursue important and innovative projects. Rutland County Head

Call for Small Business Awards Nominations
The SBA has officially launched the call for nominations for the 2025 National and District Small Business Week Awards, including the annual Small Business Person of the Year Award. These awards bring recognition to deserving businesses with notable growth, community engagement, and resilience. It is also an opportunity to shine a national spotlight on our Vermont business community and the resources, family, and friends that help drive their success. We are asking you to consider your colleagues or self-nominate your business for an award. We want to bring the best forward and we need your help. Non-Profit Organization Rebate Program
Efficiency Vermont is excited to announce the launch of a new Efficiency Vermont Enhanced Incentive Program focused on the important Non-Profit sector in Vermont. In short, the program offers a bonus rebate of up to $7,500 for any qualified piece of equipment. This is in addition to any standard incentives that may be available. Mike Solimano Presented with The Leahy Trailblazer Legacy Award
The Vermont Outdoor Business Alliance (VOBA) has announced that the fourth annual U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy Trailblazer Legacy Award goes to Mike Solimano, President and CEO of Killington Resort & Pico Mountain. The award, first given to and named for Sen. Patrick Leahy, honors an individual’s lifetime of service in Vermont’s outdoor recreation economy with special recognition for advancing sustainability and equity, investing in local communities, and growing the Vermont economy. The award was presented in front of the 165 registrants at VOBA’s sixth annual Vermont Outdoor Economy Summit and annual meeting held at
The Woodstock Inn and Resort. "It is truly an honor to be recognized by VOBA with this award,” said Solimano. “It's easy to be passionate about the outdoors living in Vermont. Working at Killington has afforded me so many opportunities to give back to this amazing place and community. Rutland Regional Medical Center Nurses Honored
Rutland Regional Medical Center's Nursing Excellence Team recently presented the Carol P. Welsh, RN, Nursing Education Scholarship to Tracie Harris, MSN, RN, CCM and Amy Harmon, MSN, RN, RN-BC. Each recipient was presented with their respective award during a surprise visit and presentation by Kelly Watson, Chief Nursing Officer, and Carole “Gert” Mayes, Manager of Nursing Excellence for Rutland Regional, along with other hospital leaders. Carol Welsh was employed by Rutland Regional for 34-years and held numerous positions at the hospital before becoming a long-standing Director of
Surgical Services. She passed away on December 30, 2011. Carol was a mentor to many nurses during her long career at Rutland Regional and many still remember her kindness and generosity. The Carol P. Welsh, RN, Nursing Education Scholarship was established in Carol's memory in 2012 by her husband Bruce and their family. Tracie Harris is an RN specialist in clinical documentation within the medical coding department and is always looking for ways to improve upon the accuracy and timeliness of patients’ clinical documentation. She will use this scholarship to attend the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists National Conference. Her intent is to bring back and share knowledge and new information to help the bedside nurses, coders, and revenue cycle teams with strategies for excellence and improved
collaboration. Amy Harmon is an RN clinical educator in the Education & Clinical Excellence Department. She will also use her scholarship to attend an educational conference. The Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program Annual Conference offers multiple presentations on how to engage newly licensed nurses, ways to incorporate DEIB principles, retention strategies, preceptor support and professional development. This conference also provides invaluable networking opportunities with other Nurse Residency Coordinators. Read more here →
