Dear ADIA members, As this year comes to a close, I'd like to reflect on my top picks of ADIA services and activities in 2021, implemented to protect and promote our member organisations and support the recovery and rebuilding phase in what has been an incredibly challenging year. FEBRUARY - Together with the global ESOMAR Foundation, we launched our second Australian Research Got Talent Award competition, celebrating the industry's young top talent and recognising the critical information and value research brings to the charity and not-for-profit space. MARCH - The launch of our new registered privacy code – The Privacy (Market and Social Research) Code 2021 and member resources. Please see here for privacy law training or contact ADIA for assistance. APRIL - Presenting the Australian Data and Insights Association (ADIA). After an extensive member and stakeholder consultation period, a new brand and Constitution was launched. ADIA delivers on our growth strategy, reflecting the changing dynamics of our industry while ensuring current members remain advised, protected and promoted. MAY - Union negotiations commenced with the formation of a new ADIA Industrial Relations Committee, headed by lead negotiator Andrew Maher, Partner CIE Legal/ADIA Legal Counsel, Rob McLachlan (Committee Chair) and ADIA members. We remain indebted to all for their expertise and time spent. We are now five meetings in with the UWU (with several member town-halls held throughout the latter half of the year) and, negotiations are set to resume in February 2022. We’ll be sure to keep members updated on outcomes as they unfold. JUNE - Salary Survey - Our seventh salary survey rolled out, providing members with six years of comparable data and the current year’s results. A huge thanks to Forsta for their ongoing support of this valuable member resource. JULY - Quality services continued to support members as they transitioned to the ISO 20252: 2019 standard with our long-term quality consultant Norine Cruse. ADIA also delivered member resources, training and webinars throughout the year. AUGUST - Presenting the ADIA Academy. A brand new online, on-demand platform designed to ensure a safe and accessible learning space for member employees. If you haven’t already visited the Academy, see here for course details and, what’s more, sit tight, as we have even bigger plans for 2022! SEPTEMBER - New member initiatives, Member Showcase, Member News publishing platform and ADIA Connects launched in response to our member feedback to inform, engage and connect. OCTOBER - We celebrated our industry greats and paid tribute to our dear friend and colleague Jayne Van Souwe with her Industry Award. This year presented to two highly regarded industry leaders. NOVEMBER - Advocacy on the Call Blocking issue took centre stage with a series of meetings held with federal government advisors to raise the issue and obtain support. In line with our member research results, further advocacy activity and lobbying are planned for early next year. LOOKING FORWARD - MARCH 2022 - The return of the long-awaited Leaders Forum conference. We have a brilliant program planned and so desperately hope to see everyone, in Sydney on March 24 for EVOLUTION - the Future Starts Here. Watch this space and thanks to our Leaders Forum committee and our sponsors for their incredible industry support. My heartfelt thanks go to our Board and Advisory Committee members for playing their part in delivering on my top picks and much more this year. I would also like to thank Andrew Maher, Norine Cruse and our Membership and Events Manager, Jen Hodge. Together, their support means ADIA can continue to deliver results across a wide range of valuable member services relating to legal and workplace matters, privacy law, quality, promotion, advocacy, and regulatory matters. |
