Project update

Council’s contractor, ICON, is reporting that pool construction is on track for completion by 18 November 2025. Once the facility is handed over to Council, commissioning and preparation for opening will take up to three months.

Our priority remains delivering a first-class facility that meets the needs of the community, and we’ll continue to keep you updated.

Here’s the latest progress:

  • Level 1: the leisure pool tiling works have now been completed, marking a major milestone in preparing the pool hall for finishing touches and future testing. A builders’ clean is underway, ensuring newly completed areas are clear for inspections and fit-out progression.
  • Level 2: crane infill works have commenced, allowing for the final structural adjustments before the interior fit-out continues.
  • 25m indoor pool: installation of the pool membrane and tiling has commenced, enabling waterproofing and surface finishes to progress.
  • Pool plant rooms: commissioning of equipment is ongoing, a critical step in bringing the mechanical systems for water treatment and circulation online.
  • Level 3: the grandstand lower roof gutter liners have been installed, with ETFE installation scheduled to follow. This will form the final lightweight roofing system over the grandstand area.
  • Stairway balustrade: installation is being finalised, improving access and safety in preparation for public use.
  • Landscaping: planting and surface treatments have begun, adding greenery and enhancing outdoor amenity spaces.
  • External civil works: works have commenced along Alfred Street South including paving, drainage, and public realm upgrades, integrating the redeveloped facility with its surroundings.
