An experienced GP from Norfolk has been announced as the new National Clinical Director of Diabetes and Obesity. NHS England has revealed that Dr Clare Hambling has been appointed as the new National Clinical Director of Diabetes Obesity. An informative leaflet outlining the different technologies that are available to help manage type 1 diabetes has been published by NHS England. Entitled ‘Decision support tool: making a decision about managing type 1 diabetes’, the leaflet is now available for healthcare professionals to share with their patients. The Improving the Peri-operative Pathway of People with Diabetes (IP3D) intervention has the potential to increase efficiency and reduce waiting lists for elective surgery, a new study has revealed. During the study, eight hospitals in England implemented the Improving the Peri-operative Pathway of People with Diabetes (IP3D) intervention, with pre-implementation data collected from February 1 to July 31, 2019, and post-implementation data collection within the period February 1, to October 31, 2021. People with non-diabetic hyperglycaemia are less at risk of developing type 2 diabetes if they complete the Diabetes Prevention Programme, according to a new NHS audit. The findings were based on data from English GP practice systems for people diagnosed with non-diabetic hyperglycaemia and data generated by providers of the Diabetes Prevention Programme relating to referrals.
