Message from the PowerHealth Team

What a busy and rewarding start to the year.

It’s been wonderful to witness our hard work developing the next generation of PowerPerformance Manager (PPM3) being valued by our users. It’s been exciting to work on new training formats for PowerBilling & Revenue Collection (PBRC). We’ve been buoyed to be involved in some very informative industry events. Plus, proud to have our teams dedication recognised with both wonderful feedback from clients, who have shared some very tangible project outcomes, and also be recognised at a national level through the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

We’re looking forward to working with you, our partners, for continued success in 2024.

PowerHealth Awarded NSW Health Tender for Provision of Clinical Costing Software

We are excited to share that we have been awarded New South Wales Health’s (NSW Health) tender for provision of Clinical Costing Software for our PowerPerformance Manager 3 (PPM3) software.

The Clinical Costing process is important to ensure health care facilities utilise and analyse patient-level clinical activity and cost data to drive evidence-based decisions. Additionally, a critical component for statewide deployments is the ability to create statewide standardisation of the patient level costing approach and integration feeds, to allow for wider analysis and increased processing efficiency.

PowerHealth understands that automated, timely and frequently updated costing and reporting information is critical to any health entity and translates to end-user engagement of the resulting costing information. To ensure robust results, PPM was conceived with a clear cost allocation workflow, built in audits and reconciliations at each step of the costing process. This toolset helps automate and standardise the patient level costing approach across statewide deployments.

This NSW Health procurement process was incredibly thorough and gave us the opportunity to showcase the features of PowerPerformance Manager (PPM3). The detailed procurement process resulted in a clear definition of the requirements that vendors had to meet, which will provide a solid foundation for a successful project.

PBRC Mobile Benefits Being Realised

PBRC Mobile is delivering some great project outcomes for Eastern Health and we are delighted they have been happy to share these outcomes in a recent case study.

At a snapshot….

Eastern Health is 2 years into its PBRC mobile journey. Specific benefits include;

  • Consultants who use PBRC mobile on average record 50% more services than consultants who do not

  • For every service recorded using PBRC mobile, there is a shorter working capital time
  • Whenever a service is entered in PBRC Mobile it is immediately available inside PBRC for authorisation, validation, or claiming depending on the organisation’s chosen data flow.

Other Project Outcomes include;

  • Patient History Knowledge - This is the first time consultants have been able to view ‘patient history’ of billing to inform the right service for the consultation they just delivered (i.e. is it a new or review); providing the ability to select a more accurate item number for billing
  • Efficient Accurate Service Capture - The delivery of PBRC Mobile is through a hand held electronic device offering clinicians mobile functionality to capture services accurately at the time of consultation.
  • Information Confidence - PBRC Mobile uses the same data store as PBRC itself. This means that as data flows in from upstream clinical systems it is immediately available for consultants to view in PBRC Mobile.
  • Administration Efficiencies - The ease and convenience of PBRC mobile has already created administration efficiencies. Reducing data entry and paperwork has been welcomed by all.
  • Increased Governance - Created accountability, traceability and audit functionality
  • Financial gains – Including;
    • Increased revenue by maximising timely billing. A mixture of private/public billing can be lodged with ease
    • Improved cashflow by accelerating the approval and billing process
    • Created efficiencies to ensure all services are captured and charged

NSW Costing Standards User Group

Phil and Andrew from the PowerHealth team recently attended the Costing Standards User Group (CSUG) in New South Wales. They enjoyed catching up with many people from as far back as PPM1 days, but also meeting the many new people who have recently joined the costing community.

It was fantastic to get together and also wonderful to hear firsthand the NSW Health team’s eagerness for the new features in PPM3.
