Announcing the NIH Institutional Excellence in DEIA Prize Competition
Deadline Tuesday, September 26
NIH is now accepting submissions for a new initiative that will recognize and reward effective strategies for enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in research environments. The NIH will award up to 10 prizes of $100,000 each to higher education institutions that demonstrate a commitment to creating cultures of inclusive excellence and enhancing DEIA in the biomedical and behavioral research enterprise.

American Lung Association
Deadline: Friday, December 15
Innovation Award

This award is geared toward independent investigators who are conducting basic science, behavioral, clinical or translational research in lung health or disease. Must have held an NIH K- or R-type award within three years prior, but not more than one R01.
Catalyst Award
The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support junior investigators conducting basic science, behavioral, clinical or translational research into lung health and disease.
Hasting Innovation Award for Interstitial Lung Disease
The purpose of this FOA is to support highly promising investigators with stellar track records of accomplishment, who have the potential to advance the field of lung disease science.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: CFF/NIH R01-Unfunded Award
Annual Deadline: Friday, December 15
The objective of this award is to support excellent cystic fibrosis-related research projects that have been approved by the National Institutes of Health (or governmental funding agencies in other countries) but cannot be supported by available funds.

American Academy of Sleep Medicine
Deadline: Monday, January 8, 2024

Bridge to Success Grant for Early Career Investigators
The purpose of this FOA is to provide ‘bridge’ funding to promising early career sleep and circadian scientists who have applied for a career development grant but whose application was not within the funding range.
Physician Scientist Training Grant
The purpose of this FOA is to increase the number of physician scientists who are committed to pursuing a research career in basic, translational, clinical or population sleep and circadian science.
Focused Projects Grant for Junior Investigators
The purpose of this FOA is to support the career development of early career investigators who are committed to focusing their research in basic, translational, clinical or population sleep and circadian science.

Centers for Disease Control (CDC): Support and Scale Up of HIV Prevention Services in Sexual Health Clinics
Deadline: January 15, 2024
The purpose of this NOFO is to support the Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. (EHE) initiative by scaling up HIV prevention services in sexual health clinics.

 
 

Georgia CTSA Grant Wise Program offers the opportunity for one-on-one feedback from experienced senior faculty on grant writing. Requests for mentoring can range from developing a timeline, reviewing specific aims, writing and editing the text, or responding to reviewer comments. All grant types welcome.

Jada Bussey-Jones and Tracey Henry received funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration to support their participation in the National Health Careers Opportunity Program Academy at Emory.

Vasilis Babaliaros (Cardiology) received funding from Medtronic for a project entitled, “Emory structural and heart and valve disease fellowship program.”

Jeffrey Collins (Infectious Diseases) received funding from University of California/NIH for a project entitled, “Childhood ‘Omics’ and Mycobacterium tuberculosis-derived BiOsignatures (COMBO) for TB diagnosis in high HIV prevalence settings.”

Molly Perkins (Co-I, Geriatrics) and Sara Turbow (Co-I, General Internal Medicine) received funding from NIA for a project entitled, “Caregiver as Navigator-Developing skills Online (CAN-DO): Developing dementia family caregiver mastery for navigating complex health, social service, legal, financial, and family systems.”

Sam Lim (Rheumatology) received funding from ATLAS CLARITY, LLC/GlaxoSmithKline LLC. for a project entitled, “Screening for Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) in lupus patients.”
