Terminal 3 West: A Masterpiece in Progress
The Terminal 3 West (T3W) Modernization Project has begun! Originally completed in 1979, Terminal 3 is undergoing a modern makeover of the west portion of the terminal to deliver the same extraordinary airport experience as our other terminals. This project encompasses the check-in lobby and F Concourse, and the first phase of this multi-year project is slated to open in fall 2027. Here's an overview of the work in progress: - Larger ticketing and check-in lobby with more self bag-drop options
- New centralized checkpoint areas on the Departures and Mezzanine levels
- 250,000 square feet of new space for shopping and dining
- Smarter, sustainable building systems
- New “swing” gates that will serve both international and domestic flights
- World-class art and additional SFO Museum exhibitions
Note: On November 5,
interim post-security walkways will open allowing passengers to traverse from various terminals and boarding areas around the Terminal 3 construction site. One walkway is located in Terminal 3 by Gate E2 and ends in the rotunda food court and F Gates area in Terminal 3. The second section runs from the food court and F Gates to an existing post-security walkway to the International Terminal G gates. Stay tuned to the T3W construction page for future updates.
