Firefly for Syrians' Earthquake Response :: Firefly for Syrians

Firefly for Syrians started seven years ago in Antakya, southern Turkey, and is led and managed by Syrian refugees. They are currently working to provide relief and support following the devastating earthquakes.

 

Chitambo Expectant Mums' Insaka/Waiting Shelter

Friends of Chitambo are crowdfunding for the final £10,000 out of £43,000 to build and equip a Mothers' Waiting Shelter at Chitambo Hospital, central Zambia.

Each month, we highlight a photograph from Facing the Crisis, our virtual exhibition documenting the human impact of the climate crisis. This photograph, taken by Philip Hatcher-Moore on behalf of Oxfam, shows Joshua, 45, sitting for a portrait with a spade, after he had been digging in the rubble, searching for one of his children who was swept away when their house was taken in the landslide caused after Cyclone Idai, in Chimanimani, Zimbabwe, on March 28, 2019. Cyclone Idai was the second-deadliest tropical cyclone on record in the Southern Hemisphere, killing more than 1,300 people across three countries. Extensive flooding damaged land and wiped away harvests and destroyed seed stocks.
