OVERDUE Annual Declaration

Annual Declarations are now overdue. If you had a financial interest in a pharmacy business between 1st May 2017 and 30th April 2018 and have not already done so, complete and return your Annual Declaration IMMEDIATELY. Failure to do so is considered an offence under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW).

Requirement to disclose criminal history

A NSW pharmacist has been prohibited from applying for re-registration for 18 months for failing to notify the Pharmacy Board of Australia that they had been charged with an offence.

Tough love - mandatory notifications

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Health Council recently approved a targeted consultation process on amendments to mandatory reporting requirements by treating practitioners. This is a timely reminder that all health practitioners, including pharmacists, have mandatory reporting responsibilities under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW).

Every year, the Council receives a large number of complaints regarding brand substitution, with many complaints relating to pharmacists substituting prescribed medicines without the patient’s consent.
