A message from the PowerHealth team

Welcome to the Autumn edition of PowerPoints.

Over this past quarter, we’ve focused on strengthening connections, modernising our services and delivering sharper insights to better support you in a fast-evolving and increasingly complex health system.

February was a particularly busy period. We collaborated and shared learnings with customers at the Queensland User Group, and transitioned support and implementation projects to our new cloud‑based support portal. These initiatives build on last year’s investments in structured customer resources, expanded support content and the introduction of dedicated Customer Success Managers – all designed to better support you and your teams.

In this edition of PowerPoints, we share further updates that reflect this focus, including:

  • Insights from the Queensland User Group
  • The upgrade from PowerAssist to JSM

  • How PPM3 is advancing costing and analytics
  • Insights from HFMA QLD and VIC conferences

Insights from the Queensland User Group

Thank you to everyone who joined our Queensland User Group and shared practical insights to help shape our roadmap and deepen our understanding of the pressures facing the PowerHealth community.

Discussions between customers and our costing, finance, strategy and analytics teams focused on efficiency, reform readiness and costing accuracy. Key themes included data quality, search capability, benchmarking expectations, costing methodology refinements and the role of AI in surfacing deeper costing insights.

Thank you to our guest speaker, Nick Moir, Telstra Health’s Head of Corporate Strategy & Performance, for his presentation Connecting the Dots Through Innovation, which drove a rich discussion and valuable user insights.

These themes and takeaways will inform our roadmap and planned product enhancements, with a focus on advanced analytics, AI‑driven insights and smarter, context‑aware performance improvement recommendations.

We value these conversations and look forward to continuing to work with you to strengthen hospital costing, billing and budgeting outcomes.

Upgrading PowerAssist to JSM - a modernised support experience

We've modernised how you interact with PowerHealth support, transitioning support and implementation projects from PowerAssist to the cloud‑based Jira Service Management (JSM) and Jira Projects platform.

This change gives you a single, secure interface to log and track requests, clearer visibility of progress and more consistent workflows, helping make day‑to‑day support interactions simpler and more reliable.

This transition also supports our broader move toward standardised service and project management across Telstra Health, strengthening governance and reducing cybersecurity risk across our products.

If you need support using JSM or Jira Projects, your Customer Success Manager is available to help.

PPM3 - advancing costing and analytics

Recent enhancements to PowerPerformance Manager (PPM3) continue to strengthen its role as a modern, intuitive platform for costing and analytics.

In this release, new functionality includes advanced analytics, automations and richer insights. Highlights include:

  • Richer search and reporting capabilities: Expanded search options, more powerful filtering, and the ability to view data directly within context reduce the need to generate standalone reports.
  • Enhanced automation across data loads: More flexible linking and automated preparation of year‑to‑date data can streamline ingestion workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Advanced costing configuration: Allocation rules have been rebuilt to allow multi‑step logic, dynamic tables, Diagnosis‑Related Group (DRG)‑based methodology and greater consistency across service areas and states.
  • New visualisations and dashboards: PPM3 now supports custom charts, heatmaps, KPIs, dashboards and docking reports, enabling real‑time analytical overviews without exporting to Excel.
  • AI‑assisted insights: Foundational work to implement emerging AI capabilities in PPM3 has commenced, with anomaly detection, forecasting, outlier identification and context‑aware recommendations among the features you can expect in future iterations of the solution. Watch this space for further information!

Connecting with customers at HFMA

It was great to catch up with many of you at HFMA events in Queensland and Victoria late last year, where finance leaders shared perspectives on performance transparency, sustainable funding models and the evolving role of costing in organisational decision‑making.

These discussions reinforced the need for reliable, comparable data and tools that support confident decision‑making in an increasingly complex funding and reform environment.

At these events, we also celebrated the achievements of two of our clients, with the Barwon Health Revenue Team and the Wide Bay Costing Team each named Team of the Year at the HFMA Finance Awards.

Across the PowerHealth team, we remain committed to supporting the national health finance community and look forward to continuing the conversation at industry events throughout 2026.
