MY OLD LADY KEHRT FÜR EINE LETZTE SPIELSERIE NACH WIEN ZURÜCK

Nach dem ausverkauften Erfolg der österreichischen Erstaufführung im Februar 2026 kehrt MY OLD LADY von Israel Horovitz im Oktober für eine letzte Spielserie ins Theater Drachengasse zurück.
Die Produktion von vienna theatre project, unter der Regie von Joanna Godwin-Seidl, begeisterte das Wiener Publikum mit ihrer Mischung aus scharfem Humor, emotionaler Tiefe und unerwarteter Wärme.
DIE GESCHICHTE
Mathias, ein mittelloser New Yorker, reist nach Wien, um eine Wohnung zu verkaufen, die ihm sein verstorbener Vater hinterlassen hat. Doch dort angekommen, entdeckt er nicht nur die 90-jährige Mathilde in der Wohnung – sondern auch deren Tochter Chloé und ein Familiengeheimnis, das alles verändert.
Was als bissige Komödie beginnt, entwickelt sich zu einer bewegenden Geschichte über Familie, Verlust, Vergebung und die Möglichkeit eines Neuanfangs.
Horovitz’ Stück wurde ursprünglich in Paris angesiedelt und später auch als Film mit Kevin Kline, Maggie Smith und Kristin Scott Thomas international bekannt. Für die Wiener Produktion wurde die Handlung – mit Zustimmung der Familie Horovitz – nach Wien verlegt.
Die Wiener Fassung wurde von Dave Moskin gemeinsam mit und für vienna theatre project adaptiert, mit der Musik des legendären Wiener Jazzmusikers Fatty George untermalt.

Following the sell-out success of its Austrian premiere in February 2026, MY OLD LADY by Israel Horovitz returns to Theater Drachengasse this October for one final run.
The vienna theatre project production, directed by Joanna Godwin-Seidl, captivated Vienna audiences with its combination of sharp humour, emotional depth and unexpected warmth.
THE STORY
Mathias, a penniless New Yorker, travels to Vienna to sell an apartment inherited from his late father. But when he arrives, he discovers not only the 90-year-old Mathilde living there, but also her daughter Chloé – and a family secret that changes everything.
What begins as a biting comedy develops into a moving story about family, loss, forgiveness and the possibility of beginning again.
Horovitz’s play was originally set in Paris and later became an internationally known film starring Kevin Kline, Maggie Smith and Kristin Scott Thomas. For the Vienna production, the action was relocated to Vienna with the agreement of the Horovitz family.
The Vienna version was adapted by Dave Moskin with and for vienna theatre project, underscored by the music of legendary Viennese jazz musician Fatty George.
