Consultation on draft Academic Regulations

Kia ora koutou katoa

The final draft of Te Kawa Maiorooro - Te Pūkenga Academic Regulatory Framework will be released on Monday 12 September 2022 for final sector-wide engagement. Following this final consultation, the framework will be confirmed by Te Pūkenga.

What is Te Kawa Maiorooro - Te Pūkenga Academic Regulatory Framework?

Te Kawa Maiorooro will replace existing Unitec academic policies. This regulatory framework will be in place to ensure the integrity and quality of teaching, learning and assessment, as well as research, throughout Te Pūkenga network to enable learners to achieve. It will replace the existing academic regulatory frameworks of all subsidiaries from 01 January 2023, although the implementation of some sections may be phased.

The changes to the regulations will impact the day-to-day ways of working for many staff, and from next week we'll have the opportunity to provide feedback to Te Pūkenga to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

Share your thoughts on the proposed framework

Once the draft framework is released on 12 September, there are two ways to provide feedback:

  • Individual feedback: More details to come next week.
  • Unitec-wide feedback: Attend a workshop to learn more about the framework and contribute to our submission.

I encourage interested staff to attend one of two Unitec workshops to consider the draft framework and provide feedback.

Workshops will focus on:

  • Whether Te Kawa Maiorooro is fit for purpose
  • The identification of any issues or gaps
  • The impacts and requirements for implementation

Workshops details:

  • Mt Albert: Monday 26 September, 10am - 1pm, B182-3001

  • Waitākere: Wednesday 28 September, 2pm - 5pm, B510-3040

Note that students will be invited to provide their feedback at separate workshops.

Please RSVP so we can send you a calendar appointment.
