Message from CEO

Hello Members,

Planning is now full steam ahead with our Jobs Expo booked in for September 1 this year. With over fifty exhibitors confirmed we are looking forward to this event and the positive difference we believe that it will make for teenage students and mature people looking for careers and rewarding employment, as well as helping businesses find good staff.

Working together with jobs Victoria, City of Wodonga, Wodonga TAFE, NELLEN and Latrobe University shows what a community that pulls together can achieve. An especially big shout out to Kade and his team at Ashlin Technology Services for helping build the software and digital assets to power this event!

With cybersecurity a massive issue for all of us, I am pleased to see registrations coming in for the workshop our partner Annette Rose of NBNCo is delivering for us on August 30. If you aren't sure what risks you face or how you could be impacted, this workshop is for you. If you are aware of the risks already then I am sure you are very aware at how they change daily, so book and come along to this workshop to make sure you are completely covered. Bring your own laptop or other device so that you can take full advantage of this interactive workshop.

This week I was invited to the Victorian Regional Chamber Alliance annual conference in Bendigo. This alliance gives chamber teams opportunities to share ideas and learn from one another. It also gives us stronger advocacy skills when we lobby Governments with one united front, rather than individual voices. It's another way Business Wodonga is advocating and representing the interests of our business community. Join today to have your voice be heard.

Wellbeing with a Difference

Reaching New Heights

How many coins or buttons can you stack without them falling over? NO CHEATING! Adhesives must not be used.

5 points awarded for sharing a picture of your epic tower on your social media. Extra 5 points if you made it into a competition with someone else.

To-Do Tuesday

Procrastinators Unite! We all have something that we put off . Today is the day that we change that. Do a task you’ve been putting off/keep forgetting about and either tell us about it or share a smiling selfie of you when you cross it off your to-do list.

Class is in Session

Let’s go back to school. You are both the teacher and the student this time. Each person on your team must attempt to learn a new skill they have never tried before and document the experience, including the first attempt. You must also teach a coworker a new skill that you have. Get creative and learn how amazing and talented our coworkers are!

Let's Get Cooking

We all made it through the banana bread and sour dough trends of the early days of Covid as calories didn’t count during restrictions.

What’s something that you’ve never cooked or baked because it just seemed too daunting or difficult? Nobody is perfect the first time so don’t worry about the results. All that matters is you tried!

Green is the New Black

Winter is a great time to plant bare root stock or dormant plants. It gives us hopes of warmer days and the sweet green growing leaves. Plant a tree, flower, veggie garden at work and delight in the knowledge that you made your world a little bit better today.

Hi all,

Gem Awards are rocking and I know I am enjoying every moment of it! Fun, prizes, laughs and most importantly, BLING!!!! We are a bit backed up in delivering the prizes so I will be running around soon enough with goodies for so many of the participants! There might even be a sneaky treat delivery or two so if you haven't completed a challenge, there is still plenty of time to get in on the fun! Can't wait to see what everyone is up to next week. Make sure you keep an eye out for me out and about in my eye catching Gem outfit.

I will be launching something new also.  'Off the Cuff'.  I will be spotlighting members in a fun more personal way.  Getting to know our business friends like this will hopefully make us a even stronger community that will grow more together.

#strongerwodonga
