Changes in the Money Guiders England Community Network

Changes in the Money Guiders England Community Network

Dear members,

Quaker Social Action are almost at the end of our time delivering the Money Guiders England Network – our contract comes to a close on 11th November, just after Talk Money Week 2025. We’re writing with these messages from ourselves and the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) to keep you up to date with the changes. If you read on, you’ll find:

  1. Reflections on QSA’s journey with Money Guiders from Jez and Lucille

  2. A reminder to book your places for Talk Money Week workshops coming up next week.

  3. Changes to how we will communicate and manage your data in future.

Money Guiders and Quaker Social Action

As you may be aware, Lucille and I work for Quaker Social Action (QSA) who were awarded the contract to deliver the Money Guiders Network in April 2021. At that stage the community of practice was in a pilot phase, and our task was to grow the membership and deliver impactful events to support money guidance practitioners during a time of economic uncertainty and working through the covid pandemic – this was no easy feat. The network started at zero and since commencement we have worked in partnership with Money and Pensions Service and grown the community to over 7,000 members.

We want to express our sincere thanks to every single one of you for joining the network, engaging with us and attending events. As we reflect on the end of what has been a truly meaningful journey over almost 5 years, we want to share a few highlights and successes you’ve helped us to achieve.

  • 130 events delivered (online and in person)

  • Over 4,000 participants across those 130 events

  • Worked with over 60 organisations to deliver events, including National Energy Action, StepChange, Citizens Advice, PayPlan, the Bank of England, and many more

  • Received over 2,381 YouTube views

  • Achieved a 92% satisfaction rate across our most recent events

The human impact of the sessions we host was brought home to us recently by Jo, a money guider and employment advisor in Kent. Thanks to attending our session on economic abuse with PayPlan, Jo knew she could refer her client for free debt advice instead of paying a company to manage her debt. As Jo reported:

“At our next session she was a different woman – like a load had been lifted from her shoulders and she thanked me for the intervention.”

It’s great to know that you are making a difference to the lives of people across England and that we’ve played our part in supporting you with skills, confidence and money guidance know-how over these last few years.

Best wishes,

Jez & Lucille

Talk Money Week 3rd – 7th November.

A quick reminder: MaPS are running our annual Talk Money Week campaign which encourages open conversations about money to improve financial wellbeing - the theme this year is #StartTheConversation. Money Guiders have scheduled free events, workshops, and webinars.  We would like to encourage you all to sign up for an event.  For more information CLICK HERE to take you to the Newsletter which has all the details.

Communications and your data

As a reminder there will be a few changes from the middle of November onwards. MaPS are in the process of awarding a new contract for delivery of the Money Guiders England Community Network which we hope to be in place by mid November. New supplier arrangements will take a little time to bed in, and during the transition period all of your membership data with Money Guiders will be transferred to and managed (processed) by the Money and Pensions Service:

  • E-Mail Communications – We will be using a new email address to communicate to the Network: money.guiders.england@maps.org.uk. Action you can take right away is to add this email address to your safe sender list and look out for some comms coming from MaPS.

  • Mailchimp - We’ll also be using a different communications platform (Mailchimp) to send out emails, and so if you spot any absence of comms it’s worth checking your Junk/Spam folders and your organisation’s spam filters, as some organisations automatically block email that comes from marketing platforms.

  • Data Processing – on 12th November:

  • The official Data Processor for your data (currently Quaker Social Action) will temporarily change to being the Money and Pensions Service, and will subsequently change to the successful supplier in due course.

  • The ‘Data Controller’ will remain the Money and Pensions Service throughout.

  • Your personal details including your name and email address will be transferred to the Money and Pensions Service, securely and safely.

  • The Money and Pensions Service will continue to process your data in accordance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018

  • Quaker Social Action will delete all records of your personal data within 90 days of the 11th November 2025.

  • Your Data Subject Rights are not affected – you continue to have the right to request access to the data we store, and request for your data to be deleted at any time. You are also able to request opting out from some or all communications at any time.

Kind regards
