Open House and Ribbon Cutting at Ida's House of Vermont, This Friday, November 7

At Lyght Bulb Moment Foundation Inc., we have carried a dream in our heats to create a true home for those living with dementia, where compassion guides every decision and dignity is never lost. That dream is now becoming reality through Ida's House of Vermont.

When we first envisioned Ida's House, we knew it could never be "just another facility." It had to be a real home - one built on love, understanding, and respect. A place where people living with dementia or behavioral health challenges are embraced for who they are, not defined by their condition.

At Ida's House of Vermont, we welcome individuals:

  • Living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia - at any age
  • Facing behavioral health needs alongside cognitive decline
  • Who may depend on Medicaid - because no one should ever be turned away due to finances

The open house is Friday, November 7 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The Ribbon Cutting will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tour the new facility and us virtual reality to better understand what it is like for someone with dementia to navigate the facility.

We hope to see you there!

Is Your Business or Organization Ready to Become Dementia-friendly?

More than 13,000 Vermonters are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and that number is expected to rise significantly in the coming years. Dementia impacts not just individuals, but also their families, caregivers, and communities. Businesses and service providers play a crucial role in helping people with dementia remain active, valued participants in daily life.

By becoming dementia-friendly, Vermont businesses or organizations can:

  • Improve customer service and accessibility for all
  • Attract and retain loyal customers and employees
  • Strengthen community partnerships
  • Demonstrate leadership in health equity and inclusion

A dementia-friendly approach enhances safety, dignity, and independence while building a community where everyone belongs.

Get a Dementia-friendly Vermont window cling and badge to post on your web or social media page to let your community know you welcome and value individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.

To get a window cling and badge, access training or for more information, email: Ed DeMott, Program Administrator.

Do You Want to be a Concierge Volunteer?

In the spirit of impending season, we would like to kick off November by taking a moment to extend our sincere gratitude to our Real Rutland Concierge Volunteers. We are beyond fortunate to have an incredible base of volunteers who help us connect with prospective Vermonters. They are the heart of the program and a genuine reflection of this community.

What do these volunteers do? The responsibility of the Concierge volunteer is to connect with the potential new Rutland resident, share their knowledge of the area, and answer questions the interested person may have. Then, stay in touch and act as a guide throughout the relocation process. This may entail meeting up when the new residents come to town, fielding random questions and phone calls, or just offering support. Typically, a concierge volunteer is assigned 1-3 people per year.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, or would like to learn more about the program, reach out to Caitlin at caitlin@rutlandeconomy.com.

StartUp Rutland Hosts Fall 2025 gBETA Showcase & Pitch Competition

On October 28, StartUp Rutland hosted the Fall 2025 gBETA Showcase & Pitch Competition at Killington K1 Lodge during CEDRR's Annual Meeting, welcoming over 200 attendees including investors, founders, and state leaders. The event featured five high-growth startups—Spire, Tuktu, Aden Legal Education, Burlington Bio, and TeleRay—presenting their progress after seven weeks of intensive mentorship through our partnership with national accelerator and venture fund, gener8tor, with their national team present.

Spire, founded by active-duty U.S. military member Nathan Fry, won the $5,000 Audience Choice Award sponsored by EastRise Credit Union for its AI platform enhancing decision-making within ROTC programs.

Across our accelerators to date, 30 startup teams have been supported, collectively raising over $3 million in funding—$2 million from out-of-state investors—while creating new tech-sector jobs and expanding Vermont’s visibility in the national venture ecosystem.
