Click here 26th April 2022Shaping the Future Strategic PrioritiesIn 2020 the Uniting Church Synod of SA embarked on a journey to identify its key missional priorities and directions for the next 3-5 years. Collaboratively we are all the Synod and there is a place for each one of us. Shaping the Future will work best if we are in conversation, if we can imagine ourselves as an effective team, if we are committed to a common purpose. To help the church to engage with the priorities we have developed an A3 poster which sets out how to use the ‘wheel’ concept and how to fill in the accompanying ‘action plan.’ We invite all congregations to fill in a brief survey as to where they are at, at present with the Shaping the Future initiative. Read more Ukraine Humanitarian AssistanceWe are all concerned about the unfolding human tragedy in Ukraine. Rosefield Uniting Chuch has direct contact with Community Solidarity Support Ukraine (CSSU) and are raising funds to help out in real and tangible ways. CSSU purchase supplies and distributes them to communities in Ukraine. Read more Countdown to the 16th Assembly (reconvened meeting)The 16th Assembly meeting will be reconvened and Assembly members will regather in person from 6th-9th May 2022 on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Event highlights'What is the basis for creating a better world,' Michael Dowling eventDo you remember the wonderful ABC Radio National program at the end of 1999, called 'A Thousand Years in a Day?' Each hour that day, every century from the 11th through to the 20th century was revisited. One contributor was Richard Glover, author of the preposterously titled 'Humanity: A Moral History of the Twentieth Century' inspired Rev Michael Dowling to describe this talk in much the same way. He will ask 'what in the current world could indeed be "better" than it is and in what way?' Read more Campbelltown Uniting Church 175th AnniversaryCampbelltown Uniting Church is celebrating 175 years of Methodist/Uniting Church worship, witness and service in the district. An anniversary service will be held on Sunday, 15th May at 10.00 am. The Moderator will preach and all are welcome to join in worship and morning tea. During these difficult times we are pleased to provide you with resources for worship leaders to use to encourage people to worship and pray together as a gathered community or at home. Reflection of the weekWhen Jesus spoke the words ‘This is my Body,’ I believe he was speaking not just about the bread right in front of him, but about the whole universe, about every thing that is physical, material, and yet also spirit-filled. Seeing the Eucharist as a miracle is not really the message at all. I can see why we celebrate it so often. This message is such a shock to the psyche, such a challenge to our pride and individualism, that it takes a lifetime of practice and much vulnerability for it to sink in—as the pattern of every thing, and not just this thing.
