Bowse Health Trust Announces Dates for 2026 Grant Applications - Request for Letters of Intent

If you are a non-profit organization and considering the expansion or development of a program or project that will address the health and wellbeing of Rutland County residents, please consider applying for a Bowse Health Trust Grant.

The Bowse Health Trust (BHT) will kick-off its 2026 grant cycle with Letters of Intent (LOI) due on June 15, 2026. The required documents and all information about how to submit a Letter of Intent can be found on the Rutland Regional Medical Center website.

The BHT is interested in funding the expansion or enhancement of existing projects or new programs that focus on providing residents in Rutland County an opportunity to live a healthier life. Specifically, projects that address health equity within the priority needs identified in the 2024 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).

Priority areas in the CHNA include access to care, community safety, and community connectivity. Funded projects/programs will be highly collaborative and have plans for financial sustainability after the three years of funding are complete. To read more about the health priority areas you can find the CHNA here.

The BHT has been supporting local non-profit organizations serving Rutland County residents for more than 29 years. The process begins with submitting a 2-page LOI form that will provide a brief overview of proposed programming. Based on the LOI information submitted, the BHT Committee will invite agencies to submit a full proposal. Full proposals require more detailed information about the proposed work. Successful projects will receive funding to begin work in January 2027.

Bowse Health Trust also offers five planning grants to applying agencies. The form to apply for the $1,500.00 planning grant is part of the LOI form. These funds are meant to help any agencies, invited to submit a full proposal, write the application due in September. More information can be found on the website.

Letters of Intent are due June 15, 2026 and agencies invited to write full proposals will submit them by September 15, 2026. Grant awards are announced by December 15, 2026, and grant funds will start on January 1, 2027. All grant guidelines, application information, and the Community Health Needs Assessment are available on the Rutland Regional Medical Center website at www.rrmc.org/about/bowse-trust/.

Help Shape Vermont’s 802 Homes Catalog

Your feedback is welcomed on Vermont’s draft 802 Homes designs! As part of the Homes for All initiative, the State of Vermont is developing a catalog of ready-to-build home designs that aim to make housing easier, faster, and more affordable to build across the state. The designs range from small single-family homes to duplexes and four-unit homes inspired by Vermont neighborhoods and communities.

Vermonters are invited to review the draft concepts and share feedback through a short statewide survey. Your input will help refine the designs before they move into final construction documents and statewide release this December.

Take the survey here.

Please feel free to share this survey with friends, neighbors, colleagues, and anyone interested in Vermont’s housing future.

US Small Business Administration Logo

SBA Federal Disaster Loan Applications Due May 26

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced a May 26 deadline for small businesses and private nonprofit (PNP) organizations in Vermont to apply for low interest federal disaster loans to offset economic losses caused by a drought beginning Sept. 16, 2025.

The disaster declaration covers the Vermont counties of Addison, Bennington, Caledonia, Orange, Rutland, Washington, Windham, and Windsor, as well as the New Hampshire counties of Grafton and Sullivan.

Under this declaration, the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program is available to eligible small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, nurseries, and PNPs - including faith-based organizations - with financial losses directly related to this disaster. The SBA is unable to provide disaster loans to agricultural producers, farmers, or ranchers, except for aquaculture enterprises.

EIDLs are available for working capital needs caused by the disaster and are available even if the small business or PNP did not suffer any physical damage. The loans may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills which could not be paid due to the disaster.

The loan amount can be up to $2 million with interest rates as low as 4% for small businesses and 3.625% for PNPs, with terms of up to a maximum of 30 years. Interest does not accrue, and payments are not due until 12 months from the date of the first loan disbursement. The SBA sets loan amounts and terms based on each applicant’s financial condition.

To apply online visit sba.gov/disaster. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov more information on SBA disaster assistance. For people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, please dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.

The deadline to return economic injury applications is May 26. However, after the deadline has passed, there is a 60-day grace period in which SBA will accept applications.
