The Art of Healing

The "Art as a Healing Pathway" carving workshops in Dargaville, funded by Foundation North, are led by local Māori artist Mark Lang from The Generator programme.

Managed by Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa’s The Generator team, in collaboration with Rose Tei - Lived Experience Partner for Waitemata & Te Tai Tokerau for Tangata Whaiora accessing our Ngā Manu Tau - Community Day Programme support service. These 9-week workshops offered a wealth of tools to maintain wellness, spiritual and cultural connection, self-expression, and to explore skills they are now confident to use on their own.

Highlight for April

Ma'taria Pekepo, founder of Tepura Creations, overcame a serious motorbike accident in 2013, relocated to Dunedin, and turned her passion for Cook Island arts and crafts into a thriving business with The Generator's support. She supports other Otago startups as the Dunedin Tuakana for the programme. Click here to see her 53pi chat with Tofiga.

"At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest we forget."
