This month we officially launched our city’s first Multicultural Plan. Our vibrant city came alive as community leaders, service providers, and members of our Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community joined hands to celebrate our rich diversity at Mirambeena Community Centre.

We're proud to support the Albury Wodonga NAIDOC Committee who have put together an action-packed event to kick off NAIDOC Week 2023 - For Our Elders.

The community are invited to Hovell Tree Park from 10.30am - 3pm on Sunday 2 July for a free event where you can enjoy cultural activities, live music, traditional dance, kids activities, market stalls, food trucks and more.

AMP Lane will be lit up with new lightboxes featuring original works from Indigenous artists. Join us for a launch event in the lane during NAIDOC Week, starting at 5pm on Thursday 6 July. You'll be able to view the newly installed artwork and hear from the artists about what inspired their pieces.

Journey through a spectacle of light and sound in the heart of the Albury Botanic Gardens as AURORA returns with a new, immersive experience from 23 June to 16 July. Explore unforgettable and striking installations, including dazzling laser effects, light sculptures, interactive projections, and magical holograms.

Our Thurgoona Wirlinga Precinct Structure Plan guides the development of land use and infrastructure in the area, and it's now time for a review to ensure the area is well prepared for future growth.

If you would like to learn more, information sessions will be held at 4pm and 6pm on Tuesday 27 June at the Thurgoona Country Club. You'll be able to view the existing plan, hear a summary of the community feedback we’ve received so far, and chat with the project team about new opportunities you’d like to see.

We're excited to welcome the Australian Ballet to the Albury Entertainment Centre on Saturday 5 August. They'll be bringing us a program of classical favourites and contemporary pieces, including Act III of The Sleeping Beauty and The Vow. There are limited seats still available so get in quick!

Sport and recreation are essential for our health and wellbeing, and with our region becoming a hot spot for major sporting events, it's crucial to have a strong plan for the future. That's why we’ve released our Two Cities One Community Sport and Recreation Strategy with Wodonga Council, aiming to improve facilities, meet community needs, and encourage participation.

We're looking for members to become part of our Sustainability Advisory Committee. Members of this committee participate in developing our community awareness program, which covers topics such as biodiversity and vegetation management, sustainable transportation, and energy.

The Committee also provides input into Council plans and policies for sustainability topics such as water and waste management, creating livable communities, promoting healthy lifestyles, climate change and adaptation.
