PRIVACY CODE QUESTIONNAIRE

SUPPORTING MEMBER COMPLIANCE

Dear ADIA members,

Re: Privacy Compliance and mandatory reporting requirement under the Privacy (Market and Social Research) Code 2021

As I am sure you are aware, Privacy is a hot topic, with recent cybercrime events and subsequent privacy breaches making front-page news and creating havoc for those affected organisations. Even more concerning is the increased risk and potential damage to their customers.

Working under Australia's only industry APP Privacy Code, registered by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), helps mitigate risk for your clients and delivers greater protection and guidance to your organisation.

As the Administrator of the Privacy Code, ADIA is required (by law) to monitor member compliance and report annually to the OAIC. As such, we need each member organisation to submit the questionnaire to ADIA (via the link below). 

• The mandatory privacy questionnaire is a checklist designed to inform ADIA's reporting duties and help members identify potential gaps in current practices.
•  It also provides support where your organisation might need it most, with links to privacy resources and specialised training. 
• The ADIA annual report will include a list of member companies (listed by organisation only) that have completed the self-regulated privacy checklist. 
• Under PART H (Monitoring and Reporting) of the Privacy Code, the Administrator must also investigate any serious and repeated breaches and systemic issues regarding code compliance.
