Dear Friends of KarinyaAhhh.... the month of May... has inspired us all here at Karinya, as is the way of things. Even our May eNewsletter is underway earlier in the month rather than later. Last Sunday was Mother's Day and at the House, our wonderful maternal support worker, Perri, gathered the residents for a lovely breakfast. The weather as you all know was divine on Sunday. At Karinya we know Mother’s Day looks different for everyone. We
recognise and honour motherhood in all its forms - the women who are raising children, those who are pregnant, those navigating loss or longing, those who mother in ways seen and unseen, and those for whom Mother's Day feels complex. Thank you for walking alongside with us. Please note references to events or appeals below are for the information of all our Friends. If you are an existing donor of Karinya House, be assured we value the current extent of your financial support, and no additional support from current donors is being sought through the sharing of this news, other than asking you to consider sharing this eNews with friends or family if it may be of interest to them. The Home. Hope. Horizon. Charity Luncheon......... is just around the corner, occurring on Friday 22 May. This event is now sold out! A huge thank you to all our impending guests. We especially recognise and celebrate the support of our Principal Partner, Parker Coles Curtis. This is the 3rd year of major funding support from Debra and the team, and contributes significantly to the service funding success, and reach, of this event into the broader community. Standing alongside and also contributing to the funding support provided through this event are our Associate Partners: North Belconnen Community Association, BAL, DOMA, Wiliam Cole Funerals, Parbery, Elect Printing. We also welcome and thank our Support Partners: CK Architecture, Beyond Bank, Solace Creations, F1 Solutions, Your City Physio - Margaret O'Donovan, Patient Experience Agency, Crace Holdings, Farrar Gesini Dunn, Successful Alliances, Bellchambers Barrett, Luton Properties and Terry White Chemist Charnwood. The Home. Hope. Horizon. Charity Luncheon seeks to recognise the women we are privileged to walk alongside. It also serves to recognise and expand the breadth of wonderful corporate partners who support the work of Karinya House through their funding partnerships and acknowledge this support publicly. If you are unable to attend the event, you are able to still participate through the Online Auction - managed with the support of All Bids. We thank all who have donated this fabulous selection! A link to the auction is at the end of this section. The Home. Hope. Horizon. Charity Luncheon and the corresponding Charity Appeal held in May each year, aims to raise net $170,000 (11%) of the non-government funding (NGF) we require to support service delivery. Non-Government Funding is budgeted to contribute 43% ($1.5m) of the annual operating funding of Karinya House for the 2026-27 Financial Year. This proportion increases as costs of service delivery continue to increase, ahead of the proportion of minimally indexed government funding. Non-Government Funding is vital to Karinya's practice framework which supports full wraparound support for each woman we walk alongside. We thank everyone who chooses the Month of May for their support for women through Karinya House. Addendum: For those among you, who may be interested the remaining 90% of NG funding is sourced as follows: Recurring Corporate Partner Donors - 10%, Recurring Individual/Family Donors - 10%, NG Funding under contract - 35% (Philanthropic/Corporate), The Walk for Hope (September each year) - 14%, Single Individual, Corporate and Community donations/bequests - 20%. Through our Bud of Hope Campaign, we are seeking to increase the number and reach of our valued recurring donors, to minimise our reliance on unexpected and unknown donor sources.
Instead of Snippets ......we share this little video for you .. Every day, our caseworkers walk alongside women. Through compassionate support, practical guidance and an individualised approach, they support each woman as she moves forward at her own pace. No two days look the same, but the purpose remains constant: meeting each woman where she is and supporting her towards safety, stability and hope. Behind every conversation, appointment and check-in is a team deeply committed to the women and babies of our community. #humansofkarinya #walkingalongsidewomen 2026-27 Association MembershipKarinya House is an Incorporated Association within the ACT under the Associations Incorporation Act 1991.
