Giving Our Future A Chance

Preparing for What's to Come

For every-day service-based companies, a regular client leaving is one of the worst things that can happen for business. For us, it's one of the best.

When a Nightingale client says they have received the all-clear, it's wonderful to hear and means that soon, they'll no longer need our services.

It doesn't mean our job is done.

Depending on the cancer someone has, the chance of recurrence may be slim but unfortunately it's never 0.

In the event of a recurrence many of our clients return to us for support and care. Whether one year, five years or 10 years on from when they first needed our help.

Ros has recently experienced a recurrence and found coming back to The Nightingale for support a second time easier than the first time.

"Knowing I could return to The Nightingale during my breast cancer recurrence brought an enormous sense of comfort and relief. Having already been supported by them through my first diagnosis, it meant everything to know their doors were still open and that I didn’t have to start again or search for somewhere new to turn to.

The team there—so warm, friendly, and genuinely caring—made me feel like I’d stepped back into a second family.

I wanted to share this because it’s important for people to understand how vital it is for the charity to plan ahead, so they can continue being here for clients like me, now and in the future." - Ros, Nightingale Client

So how do we plan for our future to ensure we're here for those those like Ros?

Similar to how a regular salary means that it's easier to plan for bills, any unexpected needs and the future, so to does a regular income mean we know what services we can put on, what outreach we can do and how long we'll be here for.

We talk about the future of The Nightingale not for our staff, volunteers or trustees but for the thousands of people we have helped over the last 23 years and the thousands of people we want to continue to help.
