We often all get caught up in the blur of a hectic bowls calendar, but just as important as thinking about the next event, is ensuring we stop and take time to smell the roses. Over the last few days, we as a bowling community have a great reason to celebrate, and significantly, the achievements span the breadth of our wonderful sport, from competitive, to social to youth (rangatahi) – reinforcing that bowls is a game for everybody! On behalf of our bowling community, we congratulate and celebrate all those involved in the following initiatives. · National Interclub 7’s – For the first time since records started (1999) two Auckland clubs won the 2024 National Interclub 7's titles; Men – Auckland Bowling Club and Women – Carlton Cornwall. · Auckland Centre Twilight Bowls Final – On Sunday 7 April, Pt Chevalier hosted a record 18 teams, from 12 clubs uniting the respective social bowls leagues and teams in a fun-filled centralised event. · Auckland Secondary School Pairs – 75 teams from 13 schools descended on Mt Eden on Monday 8 April, which is an increase of 36% on 2023 numbers, and 400% on 2022. Safe and happy bowling for the rest of the season! Auckland sweeps National Interclub titles! The weekend marked a historic milestone for Auckland's lawn bowls legacy as Carlton Cornwall Bowls and Auckland Bowling Club secured a remarkable double victory, clinching the Men's and Women's National 7s Championships!
