They might not taste great together--but you have several opportunities to create those endorphins!  This week, two great places have decided to donate part of their proceeds.  Godiva Chocolatier in The Mall St. Matthews has decided to donate 10% of their sales this weekend, starting Thursday Feb. 7 through Sunday Feb. 10.  Just mention No Kill Louisville!  This is perfect for those who want to get your sweetie (or yourself!) some chocolate for Valentine's Day.

Have you ever wanted to talk to your legislators about laws regarding humane animal treatment?  If it seems a little intimidating, don't worry--you'll be among friends!  Join us on Thursday, Feb. 14 in Frankfort for Humane Lobby Day, where there will be a briefing about pending legislation and tips on lobbying.  You'll then be able to speak to your representatives about these issues.  Elected officials are much more likely to vote in favor of constituents who speak out--so let your voice be heard.  Be sure to RSVP, so they know how many to expect.  We'll keep you updated on our Facebook page!      

Very often, government officials and certain animal "advocacy" groups try to make "no kill" seem impossible.  But it is possible, because of the No Kill Model.  Nathan Winograd describes this set of steps and programs in his book "Redemption".  There are 11 of these steps, and each one must be put into place for there to be successful results.  Together, they form a comprehensive program, and have successfully turned over 80 (and counting) shelters and communities no kill.  With success like that, we have no excuse!
