September 14: Third Annual Whoopie Pie Festival
Welcome to Our New Member
Children today spend over seven hours a day looking at screens and half as much time outside as they did in 1980. The numbers are even worse for adults, and this replacement of time in nature with screen time is having a profound impact on our mental and physical well-being. Come Alive Outside is a 501c3 nonprofit founded in 2014 that works closely with partners in healthcare, public health, outdoor recreation, and the landscape profession to connect individuals, families, and entire communities to the health and wellness benefits of outdoor spaces where they live, work, and play. Assessment of Vermont's Off-Site Construction Industry
A consortium of housing and community development partners are assessing the Vermont and regional landscape for various off-site construction (including panelized construction), modular, and manufactured home initiatives. The project includes a written report that will be publicly available in October or November. The report will assess whether/how Vermont could provide investment or policy support to advance off-site, modular, and manufactured construction methodologies. One of the goals of the project is to create a point-in-time inventory of the private and public off-site, modular, and manufactured housing initiatives serving the state through surveys and interviews. We hope you will consider helping us in two ways: - For Manufacturers: We have launched a survey for businesses or initiatives producing off-site construction, modular, and manufactured homes/materials. You can access the survey here and share the link.
The Survey will be open until August 15th and takes around 15 minutes to complete. - For Developers/Builders: If you are a developer or builder that uses off-site (including panelized construction), modular, manufactured construction products, we would like to conduct a short interview with you. We would like to learn more about the types of products you are using, how they are performing, and what you see on the horizon regarding construction methodologies. Please reach out to sleonard@vhfa.org if you are willing to share your reflections.

The MINT Around the County
The MINT Out and About: We have been making the rounds! One of our favorite things about summer is that we get to bring programming on the road, and visit our community partners where they live! This past week, we got to make adventure backpacks at the Rutland Free Library and hula hoops at Wallingford Day! We are looking forward to returning to the Library, visiting Farmacy, and supporting Wallingford Rec Camp in the next couple of weeks.
…And at Home Last week we also hosted our last 2024 session of Rosie’s Girls and it was a BLAST! Campers learned about shop safety, made bird feeders and even learned to weld! Best of all, they were able to use the skills that they developed to help Morgan put up some sheet rock and add some finishing touches to the microhouse!
We also have lots of events going on at the home base! Check out our list below of upcoming classes:

What to Charge for Your Services
August 13 | 12-1 p.m. | Virtual In this 90-minute workshop, anti-capitalist business coach, Emily Eley, will walk you through how to price your products and services and more importantly how to feel confident delivering or sharing that price. Figuring out prices ought to be simple, right? Figure out how much time and resources go into making your thing and beep, bop, boop there should be your number! So why does it feel so dang hard to land on a number?! And to make matters more confusing you see peers drastically higher in pricing, and even lower. How can you feel
confident that the price you pick truly reflects all the hard work that went into your product or service? And even if you do feel confident on the price, how can you feel more confident delivering that price to customers and clients?
