New club development officerMeet Renee KerProfessionally: Renee has supported sports clubs and project managed masterplans as the Sport and Recreation Officer for the Douglas Shire. Renee previously worked for Cairns Regional Council when she launched the Active Living Free Fitness expansion program and managed cycling programs in the Cairns community. Renee lives and breathes sport and is passionate about advocating and supporting organisations that create fitness pathways especially those that are affordable, inclusive and accessible. Sports history: Renee was one of New Zealand’s first female competitive kickboxers and had five competitive ring fights, but her sporting pathway changed dramatically when she fell in love with triathlon after her arrival in Australia some years back. She represented New Zealand in age group triathlon and came 11th in the world. More recently Renee raced in the Age Group World Championships in aquabike - a growing area of multisport that combines swimming and cycling (triathlon without the run). Renee has more than 11 years in coaching martial arts and is a Performance and Ironman Coach in triathlon. Renee has sat on the board of not-for-profits and understands the demands on a committee and volunteers. Her athletic and coaching experience coupled with volunteering and not-for-profit experience is an ideal fit for supporting our regions clubs.
