Stand together for Pt ChevalierPt Chevalier Bowls is facing a significant legal challenge over the ownership of the land it occupies – a situation that puts the club’s long-term future, and potentially its very existence, at risk. As the club approaches its centenary, many across our bowls whānau will have enjoyed the warm hospitality and outstanding facilities at Pt Chev. With close to 1,000 members, it stands as a shining example of a modern, community-driven sporting club and the vital role bowls plays in bringing people together. Club President Simon Munro is leading the fight, and this is a moment for our bowls community to show its strength and unity. 👉Read more How You Can Help
This is more than one club’s challenge – it’s about protecting community sport and the places that mean so much to so many. Any support, big or small, will make a difference. Let’s stand together for Pt Chevalier 💙💚 A big interclub weekendIt’s one of the biggest interclub events of the season as the Molecheck Pathway 7s and Auckland Cup gets underway this weekend. National qualification, club pride and prize money are all on the line, with the new two-day 7s format ensuring every team must earn its place. Keep an eye on strong men’s line-ups from Howick, Mt Albert and Ōtāhuhu Railway, while the women’s defending champions Howick and the returning Auckland Originals add extra intrigue. Expect tight contests and great team bowls. The 7s format will test versatility across Singles, Pairs and Fours, while the Auckland Cup rewards depth and discipline across the club lineup. Every end counts, and momentum across formats will be crucial. If you’re not playing, head along and support. Interclub weekends are built on energy from the sidelines as much as performance on the green. Graeme is an icon of bowls in Auckland and across the country. Chances are, if you’ve played in a centre event or visited the St Heliers Bowling Club, you’ve come across his wit and infectious smile. His contributions span more than 30 years, in roles too many to count. Here are just a few: Chair of the Bowls Auckland Judicial Committee; Chair of the Rawhiti Fund Committee; Chair of the Avondale Fund Committee; Club Delegate on the Bowls Auckland Board Selection Panel; Patron of the Auckland Umpires Association; active member at St Heliers; and Life Member of both the Remuera Bowling Club and Bowls Auckland. You might wonder how one man fits all that in. We think the secret is a combination of good health (thanks to his daily yoga and, of course, bowls), a great sense of humour and the intelligence and curiosity of a remarkable lawyer. All that… and he has just turned an incredible 98 years of age! Graeme celebrated his 98th birthday on 25 February in true style, enjoying the Nationals and supporting his partner Sue. He is pictured alongside (from right to left) Estelle Hickey, Sue Curran, Graeme, Ian Dee (Chair, Bowls Auckland), and Helen Blick (President, Bowls Auckland). On behalf of all bowlers, happy birthday, Graeme! We’re sure you enjoyed a beautiful glass of wine (or two), and we look forward to celebrating your 99th.
Rising bowlers set for Octagonal ChallengeBowls Auckland has named its 1–5 Octagonal squad for Tauranga (14–15 March), with eight emerging players selected for the key development fixture. The event continues to play an important role in the representative pathway, providing a genuine taste of Premier and Intercentre intensity, and last year’s tournament already produced three players who have stepped up to Premier level for this season's Intercentre. Selectors were impressed by the group’s versatility, communication and ability to perform under pressure, with rotations planned so all squad members contribute across the seven rounds. The team heads south with belief, depth and a strong team culture. 👉 Find out who made the squad St George Fund: Investing in Youth Bowls

A dedicated committee, including former St George members and Bowls Auckland representatives, ensures the Fund stays true to its mission. Already, the Fund has:
