Native American Heritage Day, which falls on the day after Thanksgiving each year, is a chance to learn more about the Indigenous people who called this land home. Emory University acknowledges the Muscogee (Creek) people, who in 1821 were forced to relinquish their land, which is where Emory’s Oxford and Atlanta campuses are now located. We acknowledge and honor the Muscogee people and other Indigenous peoples of this land and all others that were forcibly taken, and we commit to continue to learn, honor, and celebrate native and Indigenous cultures and lands.
