Middle of February already. We do hope you had some time to recalibrate over the December/January period, amidst the stuff of life that comes with the journey. As we compile this eNewsletter today, we have taken time to reflect on the Apology, as today is the anniversary of this momentous day, and we recognise with respect National Sorry Day 2021. 16% of the women we walked alongside in 2019/20 identified as First Nations peoples. Today there remains still much for reflection, a new way forward, across our land.. Our socials today have a link to the Uluru Statement. Since our last communique, every day at the House is a story in itself and involves many life journeys, across the women we walk alongside, the Karinya Team and the many in our community who we connect with along the way. The image above is from a presentation held on 3 February 2021, when many of the Karinya House gathered to issue an award to former Senior Health Professional, Anne Brown, for services to women through Karinya House, over the past 18 years and particularly during 2020. The award was issued by His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley toward the end of 2020. Mrs Linda Hurley is Patron for Karinya House. You can read more at the link below. So, here is our welcome to Karinya House for 2021. Enjoy the news below, and we look forward to sharing 2021 with you walking alongside us. Our best wishes to you for your 2021. The latest Bi-Annual Report issued late January 2021, and covering the service period for 1 July to 31 December 2020, was emailed to all major funding partners. To celebrate women in May - as we do every year, we will again launch the May Day - Mother's Day Appeal - throughout May, for 2021, we invite you to have your own "Gala at Home" during May 2021. Perhaps there are some aspiring Master Chefs or Mini Chefs amongst you. Or you might order a home delivery from your favourite place to support local. The Karinya Village is very aware of our wonderful partnership with Sharwood Hampers. Recently, the very lovely Sharon visited Karinya House to deliver the annual funding contribution arising from hampers sales in 2020. This is the third year since the establishment of Sharwood Hampers, with Karinya House as the Charity Partner. The funding contribution from 2020 is over double the funding contribution arising from 2019 hamper sales, and is six times the funding contribution arising from 2018 hamper sales. From the House: One of our Caseworkers received a lovely thank you note from a woman who received a gift voucher to go bowling in her Christmas hamper. “Thankyou so much, we had the best time. It was perfect to be able to take the kids during the school holidays” . From a new mum: 'To the beautiful soul that gifted us this baby box, Thank you so much! Our family is so grateful to you and our little boy will get so much use out of these things. Wishing you much love and god bless you'. Thanks you to every one of you Y'all are family and you mean so much to me through this hard journey I'm really grateful for the love and support you have shown and given to me and my son.
