Dear Brookes Westshore families and friends,

Today marks a momentous day in our school community; our DP2 (Grade 12) students have officially completed their Diploma Programme and are celebrating their graduation! We are incredibly proud of their resilience, dedication, and growth throughout this journey, and today we honour not just their achievements, but the character they have shown along the way.

A heartfelt thank you to our DP teachers for their continuous support, and to our MYP teachers whose early guidance laid the foundation for success in the Diploma Programme. Thank you to our parents for your partnership through these transformative years.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025!

With gratitude,

Dr. Rui Li

Principal

There will many more photos next week!

"Hello! We are the cultural cooking club, and we cook dishes from all over the world while learning about how climate change impacts that country and the dish we are making. So far, we have made Argentinian Empanadas, Brazilian pão de queijo, American style Japanese Sushi, Peruvian Causa, and British Cottage and cheese pie! We make videos about the dishes we have made to raise awareness about climate change, specifically the impact of climate change on the dishes we make.

We hope you enjoy and learn something from our videos!"

This After School Activity is an MYP IB Service as Action activity that raises awareness is an initiative where students take deliberate steps to inform others about a social, environmental, or global issue, with the goal of encouraging understanding, empathy, and potentially action.

Dorm students had a great day out at our local paintball centre.

With Elton and Ian of Eyes Multimedia here to capture the graduation ceremony for us, we took the opportunity to talk to some students on camera about their experiences at the school. Thanks to Iris, Charlie, Kingston, Rylan, Shusei, and Ice for taking time to be on camera. Elton and Ian make it such a fun experience and produce amazing content to help us celebrate our students and our school. You can see student testimonials from previous years here.

Book Fair results are in! We spent close to 1,000$ total on books which means the school keeps $262 in credit to spend at Russell Books. Stay tuned for new books and resources coming to Brookes shelves soon!

Thanks to Jersey and Lyla for hosting the staff vs. Hockey Academy students game on Tuesday! The staff eventually beat the students 12-3. The students worked hard throughout the match and kept on fighting to the final whistle. Bentley (MYP1) lead the way for the students’ scoring two goals, with Finn (MYP2) adding another. Mr. Shaw made some amazing contributions in his dress shoes and Ms. Sheri was tenacious tracking down loose pucks. Mr. B scored a game high five goals, crediting the skilled passing of Mr. Luke, Mr. Isaac, Mr. Ryan, and Mr. Thom. It was a great game, played with energy and commitment by both teams. Go Gryphons!

The Hockey Academy Students proudly display their certificates!

MYP 5 Tofino Trip

Another wonderful weekend for students in Tofino - surfing the Pacific breakers, enjoying evenings around the fire, and taking in the best that the West Coast has to offer.

Fun Friday volleyball tournament for House Points for MYP 1 and 2.

Brookes Westshore acknowledges that our school is on the traditional lands of the Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) and Lekwungen (Songhees) ancestors and families.
With gratitude, we live, work and learn here where the past, present, and future of Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, faculty and staff come together.
