Congratulations to our school leaders Mia, Jasmine, Sascha and Lloyd who attended the Remembrance Day Services in Laurieton and Kendall representing the school and laying wreaths on behalf of the students yesterday. It was a day for us all to not only think and reflect on the past and how it has impacted life in Australia but also to be thankful for the sacrifices made by our service personnel across the years and grateful for the lifestyle we enjoy in this country.
Examinations have been completed, with all students busy finalising work for this year and preparing for the upcoming year. Students in Year 10 are participating in planned activities over the next five weeks, with some in paid employment or work experience and those at school preparing for life as a senior student with intensive workshops being delivered by a range of teachers to develop and build on some basic skills, they will need to be successful. A reminder that attendance at school is compulsory and the last day for students this year is Thursday 16th December. Any absences should be explained within seven days and if students need to have a partial absence, a note must be brought to the HT Administration, Mr Stewart, before school.
Year 6 transition day is Tuesday 23rd November and only students who have completed the enrolment process with all required documentation will be permitted to attend on the day. The day is well planned, and students should look forward to an exciting and informative day. Visiting students will be required to wear masks when they are inside on this day as this is a requirement for all secondary school settings.
The Year 12 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Thursday 9th December, beginning at 9.30am. with the formal being held that evening at the LUSC. For the Graduation Assembly our COVID Safe Plan limits the number of people allowed in the MPC and as all our Year 12 students, both face to face and distance learners are invited, students are able to invite two parents/carers to attend. All those attending must be well and free from flu-like symptoms, must show evidence of full vaccination and sign in using the school’s QR Check-In. Check in will be at the MPC and parking will be available on the school oval. Masks must be worn inside, and physical distancing is required. Invited guests must remain seated and depart promptly at the conclusion of the assembly.
The formal is a school event, and all guests, students, staff, and parents/carers must abide by the COVID Safe Plan of the LUSC, and this means that all who are attending, including Year 12 students, must be fully vaccinated and are able to provide proof of their status, as well as following the required QR Check-In. Students are able to invite two parents/carers to the formal. Tickets are able to be purchased from Monday 15th November from the school as well as online.
The coming weeks are very busy for all staff and students. Projects are being completed, reports written and planning for 2022 is well underway. Year 7 for 2022 is larger than anticipated and the school continues to attract enrolments across all years with families re-locating to this area. At this time, we anticipate that we will have reached our enrolment cap at the beginning of next year.
